Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

After today, I will be furious at this woman by Mon.:), I'm sure this will throw me in a flare. I just spent the past 4 hours in the hospital with my youngest (12) . He broke his collar bone this afternoon playing football at school. Said he heard a very loud pop! I cringe every time he says it. Kinda like the hyenas on Lion King every time they hear "Mufaca"
Poor kid, his sports playing is over for a while. Thankfully he doesn't have to have surgery. he will see an orthopedic dr. next week just to be on the safe side. The gave him pain meds, he does ok until he has to move and then it really hurts him:(
Anyway, the day I read her blog I was in a pretty depressed mood and in pain, and sometimes things like that can get to you. You know the kind of days......sometimes you just think there has got to be a solution to this pain!!!!
Sometimes I catch myself playing hypochondriac again.....looking for something else to be my problem so it can be 'fixed'. But that's ridiculous!
I have a new respect for people with chronic pain though!!! I use to be one of those young girls, who, when seeing someone get out of their car in a handicap zone and think...."What do they need a handicap tag for?!"
Chronic pain can be very invisible! And people with CP are VERY good actors!!! You CAN NOT judge a person by their appearance.
And people with CP are the strongest, bravest, caring, & most understanding individuals on earth! Because we have 'learned' compassion!
CP wears on your nerves, wears on your mind, wears on your body, not just mentally but physically. No, she did not have CP, nor does she understand CP
But hey, if she motivates someone.....great. But she still doesn't know what she's talking about.
(((Hugs))) and Hats off to all of you!
It lacked anything to even inspire me.
You guys....now you inspire me.
I am so sorry about your son's collarbone, dixie.
Don't let this blogger want a be take one precious hour or minute from you.
and thanks for saying that chronic pain can't be seen because it cannot always and some people don't get that. hugs
I think the story sounds a bit fishy. Maybe she's like the Superman on TV when bullets bounce off of him, but when the bad guy throws the empty gun at him, he ducks. Questionable at best.
We all have our own pain threshold, and a given treatment may work for one, but not for another.
Dixe, I hope your son's collar bone heals quickly.
And everyone have a good week-end.
We, us, this group....know what Chronic Pain is all about. That debilitating pain that when you are in the midst of it, nothing can bring you out of it. No matter how hard you meditate, or breathe or what have you. It makes you so damned depressed that sometimes you wish someone would just pull the trigger and put you out of your misery. I don't think this woman has experienced this kind of pain.
You are all my heroes and people that I look up to for inspiration. Because YOU are the real faces of CP. Hearing your daily struggles and triumphs inspires me to keep going. And its like Dixie said, pain leads to depression...depression leads to pain.
There are days when just walking to the bathroom is a victory for me. Or being able to stand up long enough to fix dinner is a major victory. For me it's like Enigma put it, sometimes it is just sheer "survival mode" that we are able to accomplish things.
Frankly, people like this woman piss me off as she does not understand the true nature of CP. Broken bones heal. What I have does not heal and there is no cure. I would like to see her walk a week in my shoes to see what real Chronic Pain is like. Where simply taking a shower is painful due to nerve damage. Where when walking you feel like your feet are walking on stones and broken glass.
My life changed drastically when I was hit with CP. I had to make adjustments and learn to do things in ways that it would not further complicate my illnesses and my pain. She is still leading a full life like nothing is wrong. How is it that she has CP and can still do that? And make money off of it as well?
I want to that each of you for sharing part of your life in CP with me, as that is what has helped me become a better person. I try to stay positive, but many times it is so damned hard. This woman made me feel like Dixiie originally said, a failure.
But I am not a failure as long as i try my best each and every day. I have learned my limitations in the life of CP. And each of you is an inspiration to me!! And don't ever forget that!
Gentle hugs,
Jenna

i'm happy that she's living well, but i just saw a groupon for a kayaking trip - one of my former loves and there's no way i could do that without being hospitalized afterward or ripping my arm off during.
Chronic pain is different from acute, long-term pain. Acute long-term pain is just that: long-term, but it will resolve itself eventually. Chronic pain, by definition is long term pain that does not resolve itself. So we have to deal with all the psychological aspects of having to deal with this pain that will never go away. Don't be too hard on yourself. You're dealing with this the best way you know how!
God bless!
Sandy
Still ROFL!!! Gosh, it's so fun to laugh...
And the febreeze commercial. Like anybody really believes THAT'S not scripted.
Still laughing...kayak...hehehehe
How many times have I heard that one???
I have lost count.
Here is the problem:
If the mind was that powerful, why are people still dying?
Whom do you know dying from cancer who actually is running around saying things like, "I am thinking that I want to die"?
Despite the FACT that few people actually want to die, people die everyday. Even those with cancer who read all the positive thought books still die.
CP causes high cortosol too which lowers your immune system and can let in cancer etc. CP is not good for you! My pain is not in my head...it's in my backside.
Take care.
