Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Mine was an extreme case and hopefully yours won't get that bad. Kat is right that once you have it, you have it. You are also likely to have another outbreak if you're exposed especially in a hospital.
Do everything your doctor says and if you notice your sore changing get to him asap. Once it spreads it doesn't stop with out heavy duty antibiotics. Good luck.
Tabby I hope you feel better soon.
Tendons you should get that looked at. Not a good idea when it comes back over and over. You never know.
hope this works out.
Stranded, you said you are diagnosed with folliculitis, which is a skin infection, but not necessarily infected with MRSA. If your doctor didn't tell you that you have MRSA, then chances are, you don't. MRSA is a specific type of bacteria that can get in your wound, lungs, bloodstream, etc.
MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Staphyllococcus (sp?) Aureus. It is sometimes called a "super bug" because it is resistant to many antibiotics....and is often treated by IV Vancomycin. You can catch it from someone else touching you that has it on their skin (even though they don't have an infection).
It is correct that once you have MRSA, you have it for life. But that doesn't mean you will have the active infection the rest of your life...just that you will always be a carrier and it could surface again.
I don't want to sound like a "know-it-all", by any means, because I'm not. It's just that, throughout my years in nursing and working in hospitals, I have been around MRSA alot and learned about it.

Please take care of this. I am a mutilated freak now, due to MRSA, which I got in the hospital. Most common place, plus locker rooms, public bathing areas, swimming areas, etc.
I pray for you to get better. This infection is no joke. I am lucky to be alive.
Much love and big hugs to you.
The next time one of your "folicitis" boils gets inflamed and has to be drained, especially one that's in a place where there aren't noticeable hair follicles I would ask to have it cultured to check for MRSA or other Staph Infections.
