Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Hoping it helps. -RJ

The best source for vitamin D is the sun, and it's all natural, not synthetic, and it's free!
They say 30 minutes of sun a day is enough for your daily needs.
Have you been tested for B12? Often those with neuropathy have a B12 deficiency. Neuropathy can actually be a symptom of B12 deficiency.
Sending hugs, love, and comfort.

I hope it helps you Mark.
It may or may not help your pain (there are studies that say it does) but adding Vit.D is essential because it helps the calcium to work and definitely makes a difference in pain and also depression. I just added Magnesium to the mix (the cheap Walmart one) because Hiero sent me a bunch of information on how Magnesium adds to calcium and also does so much for so many of our body systems, including our bones and muscles.
You can get supplements cheaper at Walmart- I have a bottle of Calcium plus D that I've had for 2 years (and it's not expired) that cost less than $10.
Sometimes these supplements especially vitamins and minerals are so helpful in our pain and so many of us are low in them.l I once had to be on prescription strength Vit.D and am actually going to get one drawn to see where I stand when I go to my new rheumy. I do find I feel better when I take my supplements on a daily basis. it just takes time to get in the habit and not take them with your regular meds because some interfere with the metabolism of your meds.
Great post!

I'm sorry you are in so much pain. I don't know about diabetic neuropathy and vitamin D. I do know many people are deficient in vitamin D which can cause a lot of diseases. The RDA, recommended daily allowance is very low. I take 5,000 to10,000 IU vitamin D3 daily.
We can get vitamin D free from sun exposure during the warmer months. Our bodies will only make what we need from sunlight. I believe we need about 10 to 15 minutes of sunshine a couple times a week to get enough vitamin D.
Good luck, I hope you can find something that can help.
vitamin d can help nerves grow pack, and also bone pain it helps with a lot of things from what I can its worth a try ..anything is worth a try that won't hurt us too much when your running low on options
I have to take mega doses as mine is super low it does help with over all pain and I seem to sleep better now that I'm on the higher dose it was the only thing that got changed recently.
good luck and keep us posted
I've been on rx Vit D for 7 yrs. To be honest, I've never noticed a difference.
Nice to meet you but sorry to meet under these circumstances...
I'm also a diabetic... I take 2 oral meds and inject Novalog 70/30 and Novalin Regular 4 times daily... also take a shitload of supplements, including cinnamon capsules since it's an excellent antioxidant, supports sugar metabolism, and helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels.
My wife follows an online doctor, Dr. Joseph Mercola [ www.mercola.com ]... he can be a little over the top on some issues... but I've read his articles on a wide range of topics and he does have some really good info on his site...
Specifically about Vit. D, he cites a number of studies that found that cases of melanoma have been increasing since 1940 in office workers while outdoor workers have a decreased risk of melanoma... the vit D that your body produces from UVB rays apparently has a protective effect... although that protection is reduced, and cases of melanoma increase, with the use of sunscreen.
As for the cost of supplements... I agree that prices are ridiculously high... we found Puritan's Pride [ www.puritan.com ] and that's where we get almost all our supplements now... PLUS, they run many sales and most of the time offer deals like buy 2 get 3 free... buy 3 get 4 free... buy 4 get 6 free... With those deals, you can drastically reduce the cost per bottle! If you check out their site and they're not running any of their deals, wait a few days and most likely they'll start a new sale... you can also sign up for their email updates and you'll get notices of when their specials and sales will be starting and ending.
Hope this helps.
Peace,
Dave
