Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. When my CFS and fibro get me down, I stop and realize I might never have written anything substantial unless I stopped working. Everything has a reason.
I'm working on turning all my journals from my 19 yrs in an emotionally abusive dominant/submissive relationship into a book. Sort of an anti-50 shades of grey..... I also have some work done on the childhood sexual abuse I suffered at the hands of my brothers and how it was dealt with ( more precisely not dealt with ) in my family. I won't seriously work on that until my mother passes away. I want to write something more cheerful and less angst ridden but feel these thoughts need to get fully down on paper as it were and cleared out before I can do that. Then I'd like to write children's books.
It's a slow process but it's very healing. I'm using Dragon naturally speaking at times to read my journals into the laptop. It's very helpful if clunky....
I'm with Dorothy Parker when she said, "I hate writing, but I love having written."
as my health has severly declined so have my cognitive abilities - especially word finding and information processing. i've lost a lot of my ability to write but i'm not giving up. even the little bit of writing here on this website helps. thank you for talking about this.
BUT, I would like to thank everyone who DOES write! You can tell when you're reading things here, that someone should be putting their thoughts on the pages of a book!!
I hope that everyone who does write, continues to do so, no matter how long one project takes. I hope that people who "wish" they could "just do it" will try. Writing is a gift. If you have it, I wish you the very best at being able to use it!!
Recently i started working on something totally different, the lead character ruthlessly murders sexual predators, she's dead (undead?) and is not shackled by such things as conscience. This novel will be my tribute to cfs.. because of my sound sensitivity i tend to watch a particular channel a lot because it has soothing soundtracks. It does focus though on murder, betrayal etc. so thats where the germ of this story was planted, but i think my experience with these doctors and others who would seek to take advantage because i'm less able to stand up for myself .. My cfs experiences nourish that little seed, so this story is sprining up strong and true. I really think i can have it completed this year.
This is a great thread, its nice to explore share interests, and even those who never dreamed of being a writier can benefit too. Just putting it all down in one form or another can really help ... Happy writing.
I started mostly writing poetry as a form of therapy for the things life has thrown my way. Now I write everything Poetry, Non fiction, Creative Non Fiction, Fiction Novels, Short Stories. I've self published a couple of things and am always working on my other writing projects when I have the time.
My dream job would be someone paying me to write. So I keep dreaming this will one day be the case.
