So my daughter's gettting married in two weeks.
I've been so immersed in the little bit I can do that I've ignored all of you, my dear friends. I want you all to know that even though I don't comment or write, I think about you very often, and I feel bad but I just don't have the energy to keep up with the group just now.
My daughter has had to take on most of the details of the wedding herself, I just write the checks. It's 14 days and counting, she's slammed at work, trying to juggle all the details of the wedding, a dress fitting every week for the past month with 1 more to go, she's not the Bridezilla type but she's getting short with me, making insensitive and dismissive comments. I know she's overwhelmed, I know it's totally unfair that I can't take some of the burden off her, that I'm basically just a guest at her wedding, that I SHOULD BE doing more. I had a little melt down Thursday because her bridesmaids aren't able to make it to her fittings so I'm going with her and learning how to get her into the dress and I had to bend over for a long time and try to hook the tiny little strings onto the tiny little buttons for her bustles....10 of them!. I knew I shouldn't even have tried but it was one of those times I don't want to have to explain to people why I can't bend over, why my fine motor skills are minimal or non-existant. I know it's my own fault for trying to appear normal when I'm not. It all made me feel horribly sick. And then our conversation about the details of the wedding......I won't bore you with the details but.she was just being very insensitive and hurtful. I know she's not being that way on purpose.....this IS HER DAY. I feel like Sally Fields in Steel Magnolias......."just where does it say that all abuse be heaped on the mother of the bride?"
Well, now I just feel like I'm whining. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know why I haven't been around lately. This is what I've been dealing with. I know THE day will be fabulous......just gotta keep my focus on the end result. Let everything else go.
I miss having the time and energy to read all the posts and comment and send hugs. Just 2 more weeks.

I believe the maid of honor is supposed to be the bridal assistant. Watch 27 dresses and see if you feel any better.
Yes, a lot of pressure is on the mother of the bride. In this case, with you not being well, it's a double whammy. Taking care of you...so you can take care of your daughter. YIKES!
I'm sure you're doing a fabulous job!! I know this is a difficult time, but also a very joyous one. All I would recommend is that you try and pace...give all your energy to your daughter's needs at this awesome time in her life...and don't you worry about us.
We'll be here discussing our aches and pains and taking afternoon naps. Quite sure of that!

For you, perhaps you could let her know your limits and not try to be super mom, like I did. I ended up delegating almost all of my 'jobs' so that I could not only get through the day, but enjoy it as well. I wish you luck.
My daughter knows what my limitations are, that's why she's done most everything herself. I think she's just overwhelmed and missing having her pre-CFS Mom who could do anything. This is just one of those occasions where we miss what I used to be able to do.
