Hi, everyone. I just wanted to give an update on the vertigo. I really appreciate everyone's input. It turns out it was the issue that several of you mentioned about calcium crystals in the ear. I went to the neuro who sent me to the PT for treatment. The PT was able to diagnose it when I went there. She was able to get the crystals to move and then I had to keep my head still for several days so they wouldn't get moved again. I am still set to go 3X a week for another 3 weeks, but I've seen very good improvement in just the short time I have been getting treatment. I am so grateful I am feeling better. Dizziness always makes me feel like my brains are scrambled. So, I'm glad to see improvement. Thank you all again. Much love to all of you.

It must be wonderful to get a diagnosis of something that can be cured. Happy for you. That doesn't happen often for people with CFS. Glad that's one thing you won't have to put up with.

My neighbor had this same thing. The treatment is very interesting. My neighbor also, somehow, had a video of what her eyes did during the unusual PT treatment. I am glad this treatment is working for you. My neighbor had this treatment recently, but she also had it many, many years ago for the same vertigo issues. I hope it doesn't happen to you in the future.

Thank you both. Yes, very few of my symptoms ever really get addressed well. So, it is a welcome change to have something get better. Yes, the positions are quite odd. She did say my eyes were swinging back and forth really fast at certain points. That was how she could tell if she needed to do more work or not. When my eyes stopped going wonky, we stopped for the day. It's all very odd, but I'm a big believer in PT.

I had this happen twice. First time was in Spain, the doc knew what it was (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) but I wasn't able to deal with it there so waited til I was in Seattle. Treatment was dead simple, called repositioning maneuver. The rapid eye back and forth movement is typical of this. The PT showed me how to treat it myself if it came back, and it did about 2 years later. I was able to fix it on my own. I get mild symptoms of it now and again with certain head positions, but I am able to mostly ignore it. I am glad you found an answer too.

Wow, I think when I am released from PT, they will give me some guidance on how to deal with it in the future. I'm glad this issue is getting out on this site, though, because many of us face vertigo for various reasons. It's nice to know that at least one of those reasons has a treatment :).

Yeah, I probably go back and forth between using PT for "Physical Therapy" or "Physical Therapist." Either one. Smiles.

That is awesome! So glad you are able to receive a treatment that will hopefully stop such a disabling symptom. I truly think dizziness is one of the worst things. I also commend you on your perseverance! It can be frustrating for anyone, especially when we have this condition.

Yes!! It's always good to hear some good news. Especially, as we know here, that so many
things are rather 'nebulous' and don't always respond to treatment. I'm very happy for you
and may your crystals stay where they're supposed to be.

I don't know the specific names of the maneuvers, but the girl flung me down on the bed really fast and watched my eyes to see if they went wonky. When they did, she had me turn on my side, looking in a specific direction and then sit up, looking the same way. We did this several times until my eyes stopped going wild. At home, I do exercises in which I watch my thumb as I move it up and down and side to side. She has me walking and turning my head from side to side. She looks all hipster and cute when she does it. I look drunk when I do it. If I ever get stopped for a suspected DUI, I will need to demand a breathalyzer test because I would fail the balance tests for sure.
