Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
have you had your hormones tested - male/female, thyroid, adrenal? Getting those a little better balanced got me off the couch where I was laying 24/7 for a year.
Best of luck!
Take whatever works for you. I have spent hundreds of dollars on these supplements and now wonder if I should even keep trying with some of them.
Sending you healing vibes and energy to do what you enjoy... XOXO - TD
I'm going to differ just slightly from what my other friends have said here. My CFS doctor does blood work to see if I'm deficient in anything before he suggests supplementation. My thyroid has also been monitored. I have no B-12 deficiency, no calcium or Vit. D3 deficieny. I do take them though, as I have osteoporosis.
Basically, my doctor believes that if you are deficient in a vitamin or mineral.....then supplement. If not...there is no need to spend the time and money on tons of pills!!
If you are going to supplement, I would recommend that you speak to a compounding pharmacist ( you should have one in your area). They know about the supplements for CFS and the purity of the product. It's usually the "fillers" in supplements that make us sick.
Some of these supps. help people wonderfully, some do not. It's different for each of us. It's very costly to take all those supplements you mentioned, so I am merely suggesting that you take only what you NEED. You doctor can check for deficiencies. If you don't NEED them, they just get excreted, and you have spent money fer nothin! Don't want to see that happen to you!
I wish you the best!!!
I tried just going without any supplementation for a few months...did that several times in fact...never could see any difference at all with or without.
I try to eat a nourishing diet with lots of whole grains and fresh veggies, and I do take B12 now because I've read that the body can store it for years and parcel it out...so going on or off it doesn't really test whether you need it. I'm currently not eating animal foods like meat and dairy, and I eat sardines very rarely, so I may particularly need B12.
I've been taking probiotics, also. I've heard a great many people say that probiotics helped them...so I'm giving them a good long trial. I buy the store brand in Whole Foods, they're not expensive.
I found a bottle of B12 tablets in Dollar Tree for the sum of one dollar...I can afford that for sure. I let the tab dissolve slowly in my mouth rather than just swallowing it. The digestive fluids tend to destroy B12 and you can absorb it better through your mouth.
Another inexpensive way to supplement is to buy nutritional yeast. It adds a lot to foods in flavor, protein, and vitamins without costing a lot of money. And sea veggies like kelp or dulse flakes add a good balance of minerals to the diet including lots of magnesium and iodine. I always eat my sea veggies.
Also, the one supplement that really helped me get on top of CFS is called Colostrum, make sure you check that one out, its my own personal kryptonite.
I was already on a lot of supplements given to me by my nutritionist.
They are very effective and helpful for ME. Mostly Vit D3, all the B vitamins (especially 12) . I get 4000mg in IVs along w/ calcium, magnesium, etc.
Magnesium is helpful for me for sleep.
Fish oil is great. CoQ10, Elethero Root, Pregnanalone, Licorice Root.
I eat right. Do not eat sugar or have caffeine. A LOT of nutrients come from GOOD food, not processed.
If you are interested in what I do as far as food or supplements you can check it out on my website. But this is what is working for ME.
Also, I get most of my vitamins from www.swansonvitamins.com bc they are good and not costly.
Much luck to you. I know it is very overwhelming. But maybe u can start out w/ a few and then add as u go along. But I do follow my doctor's and nutritionist's word / advice.
