Yes, I pray you will find favor with this doctor and that he will be moved by compassion to help you. You must rest. Perhaps some day you may return to work, but currently, you simply cannot do it. Hey jcpmoore, Im sorry you are experiencing chronic fatigue. Have you considered adjusting your work schedule to something that makes you feel less overwhelmed it? Ill be praying that todays visit goes well.

Thanks, y'all! Just got back and it went...well. I was crying most of the time. That's a new thing (well, new in the last few months) that I tend to do frequently when I get anxious. Apparently it got to him. We're adjusting medications and I told him I have to have a note explaining that this is a chronic disease and I might have to miss work. I pick up the letter this afternoon, talk to HR tomorrow, then I intend to take the time off I need *without guilt* as necessary and declare it covered by FMLA. Such a weight off. It's not as complete as I think I might need eventually, but it's a start.

Oh my gosh, I'm so happy for you that you can *FINALLY* stop killing yourself trying to work while you're sick with this. Don't be surprised if you just crash and sleep 20 hours a day for a while -- you NEED it.

That is wonderful news, I am happy it went well for you. Rest & sleep guilt free for as long as you need. You may have to make this long term someday but maybe for now you can work part time. I remember being where you are and trying to work, my productivity went downhill fast and I was so tired and sick all of the time. When I finally quit my job I slept for weeks & had the most vivid dreams for all of that time. I don't think we get into REM sleep when we are trying to work & we are crashing. Oh it sure is a relief! I talked to HR this morning and paperwork is on the way. I talk to the boss today and let her know that it's coming. I think she'll be relieved to know that I won't be trying to work at home or make up hours on these sick days anymore. I should be much more productive on the days that I do work, too. I am praising God for this!

I worked full time while chronically ill...did that for many years. The only way it worked was if I fixed supper after I got home from work, ate it while watching an hour of TV, then went straight to bed. Weekends I couldn't do anything recreational, so I could rest up for the work week.

It wasn't a life, really. But at least I paid my own way. It wasn't easy, being a single guy and being unable to go on dates or have any life at all outside of work.

I've given that "blood work OK, patient OK" thing a lot of thought. Nobody goes through med school and residency and comes out thinking they can diagnose solely on the basis of a few blood tests

When doctors say that, I think they're lying...just trying to hustle us out of their office because we don't have anything they can make serious money out of.

They do that in the UK too RIchie, so I'm not sure it's about making money as our health service is free. I think it's because they don't believe in ME/CFS and they don't care.

Largely I think one of the reasons that docs do this is b/c they don't want to admit that we can have a medical issue that they can't fix or treat. I swear, for some docs it's a bloody ego thing. If they can't fix it, they don't want to deal with it at all. Go on, get out, I can't help you so I refuse to admit that you have a problem.

I am so sorry for what you went through, Richie. That is no way to live and I can't imagine going through this without my husband.

I agree with what you said, jcp. It makes a lot of sense...I've noticed that doctors tend to be very arrogant and egotistical. From our point of view, what matters is that they don't want to deal with us, whatever their reasons are.

Yeah, I agree; I think you nailed it, jcp...If they can't identify or fix it, they don't want to have anything to do with it, or us.
