Ah, excellent question Endzone. I have searched my heart and mind and God's word on this issue. I have been around many ill people in my life (some not so old) and wondered why God wouldn't heal them. The conclusion I came to and believe is that we will be healed. Some of us on earth and some of us when we are blessed and go home, to heaven. For those of us who are believers , this is a great comfort. Not sure where you are at but............ that's my reply. I believe that Christ wants us to be healed. He wants all his children to be healthy and happy. If we see God as a father figure, which I do, he wants what every parent wants. The best for each child.

But just like human parents, He can only give them the tools necessary to live the kind of life He wants for them. He gives us angels in many forms to help us to comfort us to support us.

I believe that Jesus wants healing for all of us. As 4everyoung1 said we will be healed but in God's time.

I'm not trying to dodge the issue I just don't see it as a yes or no question. How can any of us know the will of God?

My son is a professor of Religious Studies and has had ten years of study before he began his teaching career. He's read ancient manuscripts in the original Greek. He's read every translation of the bible he could get his hands on. He studies and he prays. I asked him if Jesus wants to heal me and he said, "Mom, I don't know any more about God's will than you do. People have been healed by faith but we usually don't have much evidence. I do believe that God and Jesus want you to be healthy."

I think you're still asking why Jesus doesn't heal you? And if He doesn't that means you are being punished. My son always tells me not to let questions that we can't possibly answer get in the way of our faith in a loving God.

So, that's my answer. I don't know what Jesus wants. I do believe that it grieves him that you are ill. Accept his love and his help and stop questioning his actions.

I guess this still falls in the category of relationships - ones desire for a healing- as brought up by endzone. Although deeply personal- it is during difficult times that many of us draw strength from our faith.

I don't personally experience God as micromanaging my life. Nor do I imagine what God "thinks or wants" for me on a human level. But I do know that miraculous healings are all around. But sometimes it doesn't come in the way we think it should.

Sometimes the healing comes when you forgive yourself or someone you feel betrayed you. Or maybe the healing is the release of an addiction or the resentment of a painful experience. Or perhaps the miracle healing is learning to love and accept ourselves even with the limitations and pain we are experiencing. Those are the moments when I feel the miracle and when I feel Gods love and peace.

And for that I am most grateful.

I just read a little of this and what can I say? I guess we all feel very similar feelings. Its nice to know I'm not alone,its easy to feel you are utterly alone and misunderstood with this illness. There is an "I'm not worthy" shame that pervades it all,and I think we are all brave fighters and should remeber that.Honestly, I don't think most people have a clue what it is like to live stuck in m.e. limbo land. Thanks for all your stories and commentary, it helps alot.

VickiB, I found your post to be very interesting. Yes, I am a Christian, and I have been for 35 years now. You're right, we can't always know the heart of God in every situation. There are Christian folks that say otherwise, but I think they are a little whacked out to tell you the truth. I'll just say that I'm going to seek the Lord and continue to try and serve the Lord no matter what happens. Who else would I turn to? But even if things don't improve, if they get worse, I'm still going to seek the Lord Jesus Christ and to be in a right relationship with Him.

it helps to have a supportive spouse. we have fought over the years about this. my wife is a very kind woman. i really had to prove to her that i am not like a normal person energy wise. she has adjusted. i usually take a long nap on the weekends saturday i go out early and then home and a nap. sunday i get up, we eat, at ten she listens to this american life on npr and it is time for my nap. i have been up for two hours and it is time for my regular nap. i no longer feel guilty. at work it is hit and miss. if the work is really interesting i can go for 12 hours. on bad days i can only stand for 30 minutes and then sit or lean against something. just really try to be yourself
