He got me to lie down with my legs over the edge of the table, then roll sideways and sit up suddenly facing the way I rolled a couple of times on each side. He said that was designed to dislodge the bit of stuff and it certainly worked for me, though I felt sort of sick and even dizzier for a moment while actually doing it. He said you can do it at home on a double bed.

I am not sure what to suggest. Have you had your iron and ferritin levels tested? My ferritin was extremely low after the birth and after I took some iron and got it up, my dizziness improved. Hydration is another issue that came to mind.. maybe an electrolyte imbalance? Adding something like smart water or a little salt might help? Lastly, just check the side-effects of any meds... side-effects can happen at any time!
They have bands you can wear on your wrist which help with nausea/sea sickness and might help with vertigo? I used them during my pregnancy for nausea and they helped a little.
