Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. I think that people do not know the effect they are having when they say those mean things... I've had to learn a whole lot of detachment because of this, when I'm extremely tired and often confused...
I have been going through something very similar and I'm starting to believe I have chronic fatigue syndrome too... I had to let go of the majority of my old friends who didn't really support me with my illness... I think learning forgiveness has been a huge lesson for me, throughout this illness and has brought me a considerable amount of serenity...
I also keep away from my family and really try to give myself compassion as well as prayer helps me when I'm feeling alone... I just wanted to let you know that not everybody understands and it's good to find a place where other people know exactly how I'm feeling :)
That may give them something to think about. I can't stand having decisions thrust upon me and pressure either I crunmble. It happened to me this xmas too. I told them to leave it with me. They of course couldn't:)Big hugs and lots of love for you. Work on your own time not theirs. Love and blessings, Jodi xoxoxox.
Some family member can rattle off their opinions, in a harsh way and no one things about it one bit. If *I* so much as state my favorite color, it seems they all are ready to pounce on me. Groan! I don't get it. It seems like people are just waiting to criticize me for the dumbest things. I have one relative tell me during his visit that my son's room needs to be less childish. (He is 9!) I'm like "say what?" THAT's worth mentioning? good grief.
Then I have another family member who, if I so much as say I'm not crazy about a restaurant, will choose to go there every single time for the next 5 years and expects to have her way. ugh. I don't get why we can't have our own opinions. If someone figures this out, please do share it! lol
I guess we just have to hang onto the good moments. I think some of these difficult people wouldn't feel or show compassion to someone on their deathbed, so ....
but at least there are those of us who do understand. Hope you feel better.
Just continue to be the friendly, loving person you are!
I'm glad you feel like you can share your feelings here and trust that we will appreciate you for who you are. We are doing the best we can to get through our days. Those of us who were around family during the holidays most likely have a similar story to what you described. Some people are simply more compassionate than others - it doesn't always have to do with illness.
I am also grateful that I have some friends here at DS who understand and are willing to share a bit of kindness so I don't feel so alone.
Take care,
katy
