New Doctor

So I think I found a doctor who may be able to help. Well, that seems a bit optimistic, but she seems to be what I've been looking for for a long time. She knows about testing T3 and T4 levels for thyroid and also will be looking more in depth at my cortisol and testosterone levels. She also mentioned some stuff that I hadn't even considered, but it sounds like she's got ideas where other doctors would just say things were "normal." She's very opinionated and cares a lot about details. Oh yeah, and she gave me a discount:) I can't wait to meet with her again in two weeks. I think we will start a treatment then. Fingers crossed. I'll let you guys know if she is helpful.

That sounds very positive, I hope that works out for you.

Medical and technical work is all about details, so if your doctor is detail-oriented, that's a sign that she's competent.

So I saw my new doctor again and she has put me on valtrex (virus killer), doxycycline, and azithromycin as well as some mushroom mix (immunity booster), lysine (to lower arginine), and cracked chlorella (to lower my arsenic levels). Any thoughts?

Hi. First of all- how did you feel about your Doc visit?

Second - for me the proof is in .... So I always wait a month or so and see how I feel. I'm hoping you feel better in a month.

Personally I like that your Doc is is working on hi arenic levels for you & that she is trying to keep the shingles virus at bay & boosting your immune system. I'd make sure that I'm taking probiotics since you are on 2 antibiotics. (taken at a different time - like inbetween antibiotics)

Sounds like she thinks your male hormones, thyroid, & adrenals are ok? If so, that's awesome.

She says we should give it 3 months, but we're hoping I'll notice a difference before then.
I am taking probiotics.
She said my adrenals may be slightly exhausted, but she didn't seem to think it was a key factor.
I really think the valtrex has the best shot at making a difference. I know epstein barr is a big factor for me, but I think my immune system was cashed before I even caught it 3 years ago. This may give my immune system a chance to catch up. I really hope I don't have to wait much longer for results. Thanks for the reply lynx49.

I'm extremely happy for you that you've found a doctor who tests "outside the box" - who does more than the traditional doctors. And the discount is great, too. I have a nurse practitioner who found out I had very low Vitamin D levels awhile back. She also added Paxil to my drug treatment, which actually helps me stay more calm in crisis situations. I tend to get very emotional when difficult problems pop up in my life, and I believe I'm handling things a little better. Not perfect, just better. I also sought out an infectious disease specialist last year on my own, and found out I had Histoplasmosis. Was treated with Sporanox for five months, and will get retested in September.

Having that hope that a doctor has found the correct treatment and is understanding and thorough is priceless. I pray that you will feel much better soon.
