The Atkins Diet really works, too! The food can get monotonous (sp?) but you shed pounds like crazy. The theory is that your body burns carbs first, not fat, so if you eat little or no carbs, your body will burn fat.
As to exercise, my gosh, it's so hard. I try to walk, but it has been way too cold.
Sleeper that was a wonderful post, why do you apologize? You are always thoughtful and kind.
Just going on an alkaline diet wasn't the whole answer for me in my recovery from CFIDS--I had to get rid of candida, but candida can't survive in an alkaline environment.
There is more information on my blog about my recovery if you are interested. I have so many people emailing me right now about my recovery, I find it easier to refer them to my blog. I suffered so much with CFIDS/FMS, I truly want to share with others, hoping it can help them. I learned the hard way, and tried all different kinds of things and went to all kinds of doctors. At times it seemed so hopeless.
Kindest regards,
Patty Butts, Ph.D.
A few months ago I changed my diet drastically. Not to loose weight but for optimal health. I swapped coffee for green tea (Yerba Mate) and pretty much cut out alcohol, sugar and wheat. Now I eat lots of veggies (many of them raw), beans and other superfoods. I eat a little meat, but much less than before. Absolutely no preservatives, colurs or MSG. I try to stay as organic as possible. I eat as much as I want!! I try to drink 1-2 glasses of water in the morning before breakfast. These changes are hard for about the first 2 weeks until your body gets used to them. If you eat less sugar;you crave less sugar. If you eat less wheat you crave less and so on. These changes has given me about 25-30% more energy, less IBS problems and less pain. The side effects are WEIGHTLOSS and better skin. Hard to believe, but I actually crave Beansprouts these days!!! Best of luck. Tone
I know that Aerobic activity is is not so great for us(CFS pts.),but anaerobic is much better(lifting weights etc.).It does not do much for loosing weight but at least increases blood flow and tones muscles.I am type 2 diabetic so I use a low carb way of eating.I count net carbs. If your interested please just send me a message and I'd be happy to share,.I do it for weight maintenance, and BS control. The good thing about WW is that you don't have to starve, and it is a nutitionally balanced way of eating.Good luck!
