I really needs some help, I have been experiencing extreme sensitivity to lights mainly tv and computer but also sunlight, its killing me just to write this, I still work part time and a lot of this is based on a computer
I know that increased sensitivity is an issue with this illness and have always had this to some degree but never as disabling as this.
I have tried adjusting settings, dry eye drops, avoiding screens for as long as possible but still really bad, nothing seems to help
Any advice on this especially for screens, anything make it worse or better its not just the pain in my eyes it also makes me feel weird kindof out of it and nauseas
Also living alone the Tv is my main company im going crazy listening to radio and talking books and it seems to be making reading hard at the moment too.
Please tell me this will pass soon

I find that light sensitivity really increased with CFS. I need a blackout shade in my bedroom. Sunlight just literally makes me sick. Heat makes me sick. Heat caused by a hot shower, or the sun...same results. I feel ill, nausteated, and like fainting.
I believe most CFS'ers will tell you that they are sensitive to light and sound....and a bunch of other things as well, for sure!!
It does recover. in 2004 to 2007I was in your shoes so far as photophobia is concerned. Its to do with the optic nerve and how close it is to the amygdala.

Yet, strangely, it doesn't seem to be much of a problem lately, don't know why.
Anyway, if it's been over a year since your last prescription, you may want to get an eye exam. It probably won't help the light sensitivity but it may help the nausea.
When I lived in a different area there were some narrow back roads with heavy trees lining them which cast deep shadows. Driving on those on a sunny day was actually frightening because my pupils could not adjust quickly enough & I was afraid I might hit something or someone in the shadows. I don't mean I was getting phobic, I mean that anything in the dark spots was invisible to me when dark was alternating with bright sun.
