If I were you I'd investigate your surroundings to see if some allergen in your environment is giving you all this itching.
Also my body temperature seems to go up at night and this really sets off the itching. It keeps me awake and stops me from going back to sleep quite often. If I take sleeping tablets , I suffer with side effects from the chemicals. The itching did actually go for a short while but now it is back in full force. This week I have another appointment with a new skin doc. However he is a dermatologist and not an allergist. We do not have a single allergy specialist in this whole city.I have to keep a long handled spikey spaghetti cooking spoon under my pillow for when my back starts itching at night. Now im really giving away my secret life here Lol!! Bit embarrassing.
So Eweneek I can certainly relate. In the morning and all day I have no itching whatsoever and not a mark on my skin.Very mysterious and incredibly irritating.
Some years ago, government bureaucrats who knew nothing of washing machines set arbitrary limits on the amount of water new washing machines could use in a cycle. About that time washing machines no longer worked well, and they left behind a lot of detergent and additives in the cloth that went through them.
You can see this easily by taking a clean washcloth or towel out of the closet, wetting it down, and wringing it out into a stoppered basin. The water you wring out will be sudsy and not very clean. It may even smell bad.
After my washing machine broke down, I started washing everything in a laundry tub. My itching problems mostly disappeared. The first time I washed clothes this way, the water was very dark with grime. My clothes and bedding are a lot cleaner now. It's not easy washing everything by hand, but it really doesn't take any more time to do laundry this way once you get the hang of it.
The dysfunctionality of modern washing machines is no secret, it's been written about in articles and so forth. Limiting water usage by washing machines is a fine idea, it's the way it was left to ignorant people to carry out the idea...that's the problem. A lot of good ideas wind up this way.
When I was on meds, I had some of the craziest symptoms imaginable such as my jaw locking 3 times that were dismissed by doctors as nothing to worry about. Fortunately one doctor knew that was a side-effect and told me what to take to counteract it, but I'm amazed looking back at all the crazy symptoms that were nothing more than side-effects.
I went off all meds when I developed a receding hairline as I was so freaked out! Now I just take supplements.
Itching can also be a symptom of liver problems.
