Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
This is something we all do, and we need to be careful! When a new symptom comes alone, we tend to think it's CFS and just kind of write it off. That can be a big mistake! I, like simonsayssit, do not want to alarm you in any way at all, I just want you to take this to the proper specialist for a diagnosis before you take our word for it that it's CFS related!!
OK? This is something we all need to do. This is part of the CFS criteria!! LET"S JUST CONFUSE THIS PERSON!!! And CFS does that very well. Don't let it get ya!! See a Neuro guy, and get peace of mind!! That's what I do.
I wish you the best!!
Don't worry about how you sound with posts and any problems are big enough to talk about on here.
Good luck to you!
I went to a very good neurologist last year for help with my migraines, and she really did help. Since I already have a neuro, might as well see her again.
I wanted to say, if you have a healthcare plan, you'll see your pcp first; then get your referral to a neurologist, who will most likely set you up for an mri or ct scan pre-visit. don't be surprised if that first visit is 4 or 5 months out. I started out with my pcp when I began dropping things regularly. He diagnosed ET but wanted me to see a neuro guy anyway, it was 5 mo for the visit, and then more testing and 8 mo total for a diagnosis.
Treatment was meds, sadly I could not tolerate them (no surprise there). I then saw my Naturopathic Doctor (ND). She suggested some herbals that helped far more than the meds. Also, for me anyway, it's a huge function of blood sugar.
Are you eating first thing in the AM? or waiting a bit? Having coffee? That will make it worse if it's ET. If you can get a hold of an inexpensive blood glucose testing unit, try checking it first thing in the AM just to rule out hypoglycemia. If your waking sugar is less than about 90, that's a possibility. If it is lower, eat right away when you wake up. I mean within 15 min. even just a piece of toast with peanut butter or something with protein and carbs.
Avoid caffeine as well....
If it's not your sugar, not ET, there still could be other things to rule out before presuming it's just part of CFS.... I'm thinking neuropathy, thyroid, low blood pressure...
Hope your pcp can get you going on the path for an answer!
Be well
