I have sleep apnea and sleep with a machine. My doctor feels like he can cure it by resetting my jaw so my throat doesn't close up. I have to be asleep during the procedure and have my jaw wired for 6 weeks. I had had CFS for over a year and have a moderate case. I am housebound and can walk about 1500 steps a day, but cannot work anymore. Some days good some not. I survive by pacing myself to avoid crashing.

My question is: if I get put "under" will I get worse. Has anyone gone under and come out worse or okay?

Any feedback on your experience would be appreciated.

Nina, it sounds terrible! Yeah, I have a lot of trouble with anesthesia as well with the migraines and the symptoms you mentioned. It seems to take so long to get it out of your system. Hold tight. I do hope you feel better soon.

And TammyDiane, did you end up getting the surgery? And if so, how did it go?

Thanks for confirming this is "normal" CFS stuff. I had a suspicion but it helps to have someone else say so. I've asked for my records to see how much they gave me so I can show it to the next anesthetist to ask them to use less if possible.

Nina! I had an endoscopy (tummy search) and colonoscopy, both in the same year, and both with Propofol! I did really well both times with recovery and side effects were minimal. I actually felt well by evening with both procedures.

Are you sure it isn't something else you're taking in combo with the Propofol that is giving you the extended, crashy, heavy headed thing?? I know that according to my research (which I've done a lot of) we cannot tolerate, Histamines or Epinephrine during surgery. Both of these are commonly used. Propfol does not contain these things. Check it out. Is there something else you're taking that could be messing you up?? Let us know. I'll keep checking. Or message me!! xo

Unsure if they gave me anything else. I've asked for my records but won't be picking them up for a couple weeks when I am in the area.
I had the same procedure ups and downs I call it....
I think perhaps the fact that this is the 38th time in my life I was put "under" might contribute....
Pushing iron rich foods and b vitamins and feeling a bit better today.

I don't have any problems with anesthetics but my mother, who has fibromyalgia does. She was only diagnosed a few years ago, but I suspect she's had it since I was a child. I remember that just bumping her arm would cause her pain.
I don't know what sort it is, but I know there's only one anesthetic she can have and even then she's groggy and nauseous for days afterwards. Other ones leave her sick for weeks. I'm wondering if it's the difference between fibro and CFS that explains things, or something more subtle.
