Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. If I may add my two cents here. I've never had an IV of Vit. C or any other vitamin. I see a CFS specialist in Pennsylvania. I travel to another state to see this doctor. He is awesome!
That being said. He is FULLY of the belief that if we are not deficient in a vitamin/mineral...whatever, then we shouldn't supplement it. Some vitamins are not excreted out of the body if there is excess, and can be extremely dangerous to our health.
I was tested for Vit. C deficiency. I do not have it. I was tested for the B vitamin's...no deficiency there either. Therefore supplementing, would be overloading and possibly cause me harm.
I'm mentioning this because I have seen friends have very bad reactions to IV vitamin infusions, and I would like to just reaffirm what's already been stated in this thread. Check your levels of ANYTHING before you agree to infuse it. Again, too much Vit. C or the B's can be dangerous!
I wish you the very best...and peace in making this decision. I realize the financial part is an issue as well!!
Gentle hugs.!
I had weekly intravenous vitamin C around 15 years ago, along with intramuscular B shots, for 6 weeks. My doctor's best friend had CFS and was a fellow doctor who 'cured' himself with this method. Personally, it did nothing for me but everyone is different. I very much hope you get something from it. It's a very expensive treatment! I would love to know if this doctor has ever had a relapse or did indeed cure himself :)
Interestingly, my then doctor used to be a CFS sceptic until he witnessed his friend only able to drag himself on the floor to get to the toilet etc. I had been to many doctors asking "what is *wrong* with me?" and they all said nothing was wrong. At least I found this doctor who was a new believer!
I've had CFS since around 1991. Nice to 'meet' you all :) :)

Kaye, Welcome!
I have decided NOT to go ahead with any more treatments. Thanks
for all of your help. It was a tough decision but I feel I made the best one for me.
