Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
I have all three and more. I've never taken adderrall, I think it might have been suggested to me at some point but i was too exhausted to process questions about it.
Are you familiar with the primary explanation of CFS/ME, the unrelenting fatigue, that sufferers never feel better no much how they sleep.......sleep can no longer restore our energy daily the way it used to.......do you know what PEM is? post exertional malaise? it's another primary marker of CFS/ME.
Before I came to DS I just assumed that everyone had hypersomnia like me, but since being here I've met more people who suffer with insomnia than hypersomnia........sometimes I have bouts with both, for me the insomnia doesn't usually last for more than a day or two, but it will really mess me up in terms of my own self care/daily needs. after a bout with either one, i try to get back to some level of what has become normal for me........
i don't know if the hypersomnia is separate from CFS/ME or not......I don't think it is a strict marker of the disease, but in my case it has been a primary issue since the CFS symptoms came on. My hypersomnia gets worse with added activity........and that never changes for me. I was diagnosed in 1997, so it's been awhile.......
I need to rest now, i'm tuckered out.........i don't know if i've helped at all, but i can tell you that i've learned a lot about self care........symptom management, what seems to work for me...........remember that we're all different in a variety of ways......that our chemistry is very unique to each of us... one med that might work for me might not for you and vice versa.
i want to encourage you and hug you too.......it's a journey to figure out the best ways to take care of yourself, the right meds, right medical folks, all of it........be kind to yourself and rest as much as you can.........you're sick and it takes time to sort things out for yourself, for your life...........show yourself compassion and respect, it will take you a long way. being so sick is confusing, challenging.......hang in there. i don't know if any of this is helpful, but i do want to encourage you .........there are very nice people who try to help as they can.....take care!
