Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
Hospitals don't understand CFS. You do not just have stress...you are ill. I once got taken off in an ambulance because I couldn't breathe and they said there was nothing wrong.
I'm sorry you are so exhausted and sad. You say you have nothing left to give but it sounds like you need to be receiving rather than giving right now. I take it there is a lack of support?
I don't know what else to say except I have been there and there are ways through and things can and do get better, but right now I hear your despair and your loneliness and your upset. Sending you virtual support and hugs.
First, did you say that you started any new medication? Have you fainted before? That is something that I would look into further.
Have you ever been tested for POTS?
There are a lot of ways to manage this, like getting a heart rate monitor and many other things, but I would check for it, especially if you are fainting. If often goes hand in hand with CFS.
It sounds like you've been through a lot, but there is always help and things can always get better.
Try to take care of yourself today and do something you enjoy. You've been through a lot.
Things do get better with rest.
People who work in the field of mental health will tell you that "the holidays" are a time of acute stress for people who are dealing with great challenges in their lives.
I'm dealing with it too. You're not alone, and it's good that you reached out to the group for support. I used to go to the ER's a lot. Now I go lie down, do a meditation exercise, and I can usually normalize things enough to carry on. Lying down really helps when you feel faint, we all have some degree of orthostatic intolerance. It will creep up on you.
That feeling that you can't deal with anything anymore...that's your cue to take a break and calm yourself. I always take breaks when I'm working on something, and it really, really helps.
I agree that when something stressful happens and a lot of
difficult feelings come up, it can be overwhelming. When that
happens to me, I don't try to think of something positive. I
kind of just see what's going on. Because it's more stressful to
pretend that I feel up when I really don't. I'm sorry to hear all
that you're going through. It is a rough time with all the messages
out there, thinking we 'should' be so happy and so this and so
that.
You are here and we hear you.
Everyone else is being so helpful with the emotional part of this, I'm going to take a whack at the medical.
When you get very stressed, you use up a lot of adrenaline, it just shoots out in waves. The very sensitive can actually feel it. When you have a lot of adrenaline coursing through your veins, it uses up blood sugar really fast, and your blood pressure rises.... then when you are done that moment of anxiety/fear/stress you are left with low blood sugar and sometimes low blood pressure to boot. In the average person both of these level out within about 30 minutes or so..so by the time you get medical help things look all peachy. Then you are left feeling like it's all in your head. I wonder if you are able to eat correctly at this point? Frequent meals with protein, no alcohol, limited caffeine, no artificial sweeteners (some trigger issues with adrenaline/cortisol) and lots and lots of water or herbal tea with some honey or maple...
I think it may just be a fortunate thing in the long run that you collapsed at work and have proof. Should you decide to go for disability, that information will come in very handy for your difficulty getting through a stressful day.
Sorry to be the analytical one but hope there is some help here.
hugs
Yes, soon the holidays will be over. I love Christmas only for the religious part. The rest is ridiculous. The fakery fake crap.
I hope you will feel better soon!! Hugs x
