Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
Also- i've been on a pretty strict diet for 10 yrs, and though it has helped me not get sicker, it has not cured me either.
I just got a juicer, new territory for me. Plan to juice my way to better health and supplement my diet with regular food. Don't care about high school skinny at all, just want to be healthier......
Wishing you well, I have a lot of foods I became hypersensitive too and had to eliminate a lot of things, but I still manage to find my way to the snack cake aisle....right now I have my little George Foreman Grill in a place on honor on the counter to grill chicken, etc. I made a deal with myself, before I can reach for treats, first I'll have something healthy, drink a glass of water and see if I can get past the lure of the sugar bug.
Figure out little things you can do, best choices to help you in support of your struggles and your goals....gentle hugs!
I am not a black or white person. It works best to slowly add more healthy things into the diet rather than feel deprived by taking things away...
I bake my own sourdough bread, not as difficult as it sounds. If you replace junk food with a self-torture of bland, low fat, low carb food, of course you are going to fail.
I think another key is recognizing high-sugar foods as a drug. You have to get off them altogether to break the craving. Our brains are programmed to seek sweet fruit and other plants, that gets shorted out with sucrose and fructose in high concentrations...and we get addicted to the sugar high.
I'm sensitive to a lot of things too. But I believe in challenging that with small amounts of the food until I desensitize. That won't work with a severe food allergy, you need professional help to do that. But desensitization is a standard remedy for allergies.
Of course nothing is easy with ME. It takes patience and a lot of indigestion to get anywhere with my way of doing things. But I can eat a wide variety of things and with the help of a lot of ginger, my indigestion is more or less under control now.
Diet has always been a problem for me. I have never had any appetite since I was a child, and have had anemia at least 5-7 times now. I'm sure that it does nothing to help the Chronic Fatigue.
Currently I have it again, this time it's from both iron deficiency and B-12 deficiency. Sick of taking supplements -- but I just don't really like to eat.
I give myself B12 Glutithyone shots daily.
I believe if I ate healthier, I would feel better.
I have gained quite a few pounds in the last few months and want to get things back in control. I have just been approved for disability, so when that comes in next month, I plan on going to the store and getting fresh fruit and vegetables and stop eating all this crap. I kind of gave up on the healthy diet thing because it was such a challenge, but I am sure that all the junk I have been putting into my body has exacerbated my condition.
Yuck.LOL
I guess when we want to eat comfort food, one way to do it is to make that food for a meal, but make the rest of the meal "ideal." Like, I will have steamed kale, baked salmon AND mac n cheese. hee hee.
That way it's not too bad, right?
