Hello Darkness my old friend
You've been a part of me since time began
You've been with me each waking hour, you stay away I feel your power and I can hear you every hour

And when the evening turns to grey
When twilight comes to take the sun away
You come back to me in your might, you take away the inner light
You fill my heart with dread and fright
And even though I try to say
You're not my friend will you please go away
My heart knows somewhere deep inside, I cannot run I cannot hide, I can't get off this endless ride
