It was good of you to take the time to try and explain it to someone who does not have chronic illness. Not everyone would put forth the effort.
Maybe that's one more person who has learned something about our illness and will be more cautious and aware when someone says they "need" to sit down!!
Good job, Sparrow!
But yes good job xx
Here's a facebook link to The Spoon Theory....hope you'll read her words...she deserves full credit for this awesome analogy!!!!
Hugs!
I have never heard of the spoon theory, I like this simple approach a lot. What an easy way to try to get others to understand.

I just found out my best friend and her husband were discussing my condition, and what I could or should be able to tolerate (he's a smoker) and it kind of upset me. I don't discuss her diabetes with anyone, why are people talking about my problem?
I hate it when anyone points out that I have MCS on the rare occasions I go out in public. People aren't going to change their habits(wearing perfume, deodorant, hairspray, etc. for me, so leave me alone already.
Another friend has pain in her neck. She had disc problems and a pinched nerve she is now getting treatment for.
Another friend has sciatica, another friend had migraines and so on and so on. I think going a side benefit of our journey can help us help others. In the case of the first friend, going to my rheumy saved her a lot of time and frustration because her own care professionals missed it, told her she simply suffered with stress from a busy schedule...my endo id'd the Gerd's and so on....so I try to stay patient, sometimes there is more to the story....hugs!
sharing with non-ill people is tricky. most do think that disease is self-limited. do you know the definition of a good patient? one that takes the medicine and gets better. do you know the definition of a bad patient?one that takes the medicine but doesnt get better!
Great job!
