Well, the kids are back at school and I am trying desperately to get back to my school routine as opposed to the summer routine.
I'm behind on my Ministerial Counseling Accrediation and my plaques and my Discipleship Course at church.
I'm looking for a way to make some $$$$$ as things are going up, I know no one but me has noticed this, lol, and Disability will raise its deductible in Jan 2010 but NO COST OF LIVING RAISE so I will be further in the hole. At what point does the hole become a grave? LOL I'm not sure, but I'm either going to hit the center of the earth or oil, no, in WV, it would be coal. That would bring in some bucks, yes?
I really would like to give my plaques a whirl selling online as some friends are pushing me to do but my family, altho they agree I should do more of my plaques & artwork, they won't leave me ALONE to do this. There, my dear peeps, is the conundrom. If I were to work outside the house at a job, if I were able, and if I could locate one, etc., I would at least be left alone to get a job done where I could earn some $$$$. However, I fear this may set off my CFS, FM, Dystonia, etc. and incapcitate me more so. That's why I was leaning towards the plaques. If I'm having a good day, do some, if not, none for the day.
I guess there is no "REAL" way to know if I can do the plaques on line and get some dough coming in except to give it a try. I suppose I could do some very general type, which has not been my style in the past if you look at my pics aptly labeled PLAQUE. But I suppose I could also offer "speciality" plaques as well.

Totally understand about trying to find a way to make some money outside of getting a job. I also understand what you are saying about finding it hard to find the time to do it because of your family and committments... same here... it's frustrating isn't it?!
I would recommend that if you are going to try selling a product, try and avoid places that will charge you fees even if you do not sell anything... for example, if you list something on e-bay and it does not sell, you still have to pay their fee. I think whether this would be worthwhile depends on how much you would make off each plaque and whether you could be able to offset fees paid for listing unsold items against profit from sold items and still make a decent amount of net profit. Does that make sense?
One of the challenges of selling things online is to drive customers/traffic to your website or the place you are selling. Check out places you could potentially sell your wares and see if you have competition selling similar things... how much they sell for, how frequently they sell etc.
Also, is there a way you could sell your plaques in your local area? Like some people choose to sell cards or jewellery in local gift stores and craft stores on a sale or return basis. Maybe this might be another way for you to sell in addition to using the Internet?

I'm a great cook, but one cannot do any catering out of their own homes in Massachusetts. I'd have to rent a kitchen/storefront.

I'm thinking of trying to grow nursery stock or organic vegetables I can sell locally, but that takes more get up and go than I can usually muster. My get up and go...got up and went, lol.
I'm not any help here, but I just want to say that it's nice to know that there are so many of us that would truly love to be doing something if we could. I wish people would understand that about people with chronic illness. We don't enjoy not being able to work. I think most of us desperately wish we could do more.
Keep us posted so we know what is working.
I was in business for many years before I got sick. I owned about 6 different businesses over a 25-year span. Only one was rally successful but that is typical. Most businesses don't make it past the first year or two. I have a lot of experience in business but no money or energy to get started again. You need both of those to be successful. It is to bad that we cannot get together and help each other. The thing we all have in abundance is time. If we could sell time in bed we would all be rich. If we could get together and brain storm (when not in the fog) :-) maybe we could come up with some good ideas. We all have something to offer if only ideas. If all of us with CFS sent one dollar to just one person with CFS that person would be rich. Maybe that person could do something with the money to help the rest of us eventually. Just brain storming out loud. :-) The thing is we all have something in common and that is we are strong to live with this disease. You would think anything else in this life would be easy compared to just living with CFS. Just some things to think about.
As far as earning supplementary income at home, the only things I know of require skillsets and experience. I know someone who does freelance writing, another person that does web design, and someone who recovered enough to start a photography business with a home studio. The problem is that you have to have enough energy to be profitable. I've made money trading stocks online but only during times when my cognition is good and I have to the time to watch the financial shows and really study the market. (Plus that requires a large investment and is quite risky.)

Now, yes, I am looking into consignment......I've 3 friends who are possabilities.....
