Curious, need input.
Back in May when I saw my long term Rheumatologist/Immunologist, I was a really sick pup. I had suffered another blood clot in April (flying is not my friend) and was struggling along. That day she gave me a copy of the labs and it said that I had the Cytomegalovirus (CMT). I had never ever heard of this. Brain fog aside, I have had CFS & FM (plus other conditions) since 1998 (and never once heard of this disease). So it was kind of a shocker when she casually said,"It's chronic with you, you've always had it..." I said I have no memory of this, what is it? So she told me, "In a nutshell it means that it is the reason why you have no ability to fight off infection, no ability to heal quickly or easily, why you catch any and everything. Why you are flat lining with flu, viruses, all manner of nonsense every time you go into the hospital for lab work to monitor the blood clot...in my further weakened condition, I was picking up every germ present, no way to fight anything.
Do any of you have knowledge of this disease, know more about it?
I had mono as a young teen-ager 100 years ago and always thought that this had something to do with why I am sick now, but never heard of CMT prior to that day. The majority of the research I did led me to sites that focused on infants and children with this condition, which made me wonder if I have always had this due to something overlooked from infancy.
Something that laid dormant and came to the surface when I had my first severe CFS flare...I don't know...I'm rambling on, sorry, what do ya'll know? Happy to hear any ideas or information on this. My friend in med school told me that it is a very serious condition and how fortunate I was that day to see my RA who benched me from continuing to work, my body temp was 94 degrees, dangerously elevated blood pressure as all conditions reared up in full Tsunami flare force due to the most recent onslaught of the blood clot. Sorry I can't give you a great insight or wisdom into this but am sure others that come here regularly will be able to translate it into a more simplified form.
