Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. I say if it isn't dangerous and makes you feel better go for it.
I do wonder if you might be dehydrated? Sometimes that can cause salt cravings..
I also show up in blood work as being dehydrated. Very few times has that blood work come back normal. My doctor is always telling me to drink more water. UGH....more salt, more water...but not too much of anything, cuz that's bad!!
Nothing confusing about this illness, eh????
Try Sea Salt, It's the best salt option, I'm told. I tried it, but for some reason, it interfered with my sleep! Go figure! Doctor says regular table salt will help me just as much.
I'm following Dr. Wilson's advice like lynx49. I mix a little sea salt in with my water. I started only a week ago and thought it would taste gross, but I can't tell much of a difference except that it's somehow BETTER. Not salty, just better.
I used to hate salty things (pre-CFS) but I've had crazy salt cravings for a couple years now, and I know I have blood pressure issues (esp. upon standing, like for a lot of us). Since I eat clean and nothing comes very salty to begin with, I add salt to just about everything. Honestly I don't know if it has done much to alleviate my symptoms, but I'm interested to see if my blood pressure is closer to a normal level when I see my doc next week.
I wonder if that's what it is.
Thanks! Kenzie
Also I started drinking more water and more gatorade to try to help hydrate. We CFSers get dehydrated easily..
