CFS and throat issues

Thought this was fascinating!  My illness started with mono and SEVERE throat pain that lasted for about 3-4 months!  I still feel an achy/sore throat when I'm very tired.  I would love to learn more and maybe even get tested for this!

Interesting link Bluebonnet08 . Thanks for sharing!! I have chronic throat pain for some years now along with the fatigue. The throat pain leads usually to jaw pain and sinus pain as well.

Yes, I can always tell when I have gone too far because my throat will start to hurt. That's always the tell-tale sign. I also got ME/CFS after Mono. Thanks for sharing.

I also got CFS after Mono. However, the theory that the Epstein-Barr virus causes CFS was debunked in 1990. Unfortunately, it has made a comeback because so many doctors are ignorant about CFS in 2017, in the US at least. They think they are discovering something new.

I had the recurring mono symptoms for 20 years, then they just stopped. However, CFS didn't stop. I have been sick since 1990. After 20 years my immune system threw off mono so thoroughly that I have absolutely no antibodies to the virus that causes mono. I've been told I've never been exposed to the Epstein-Barr virus! Considering that 90+ percent of the population test as having been exposed to it, that result seems ridiculous considering that my problems started with "ACUTE INFECTIOUS MONO." We are screwed because lab tests don't explain our crazy immune problems and so many of us can't find a doctor that gets it.

So your recurring mono is caused by CFS, which is caused by ???????????????.

There are a couple of doctors in the entire state of Florida who do get it but they have waiting lists a mile long and are not taking new patients. My insurance won't let me get treatment out of state.

Geez, I wish I could move to Canada or Australia. I live in a banana republic.

My CFS started with a severe case of mono in spring of 2009. I had throat probs from the get go. Tried to teach school the following school year and permanently damaged my vocal chords. My throat bothers me almost all of the time, now. Before the CFS crashes begin, I start losing my voice.

Like all of you I struggle with continuous sore throats and use the level of pain as an indicator that a CFS flare up is looming. Would love to hear any tricks you have found to sooth the pain. Thanks
