Yikes. I had a man, same age, say the exact same things to me. I was a sweetheart. I was worth it. Until I wasn't.

Sounds like we were dating the same man. Maybe we're neighbors.

It hurts, but maybe we're better off without the pressure of proving constantly that we are worth it. That takes too much energy.

Maybe we'll yet find someone who will see us for who we really are and will keep thinking we're worth it.

Sorry for posting this beyond any date that anyone might see it..BUT..i read this at the time and was so glad Nina brought up the subject of being empathic. Didnt getvchance to respond or ds froze on me then couldnt recall where id seen it! Ive spent many years in the metaphysics and energy work areas or atleast on the fringes and i do believe some of us are more empathic than others and can have a harder time buffering from others energies around us. In recent years i finally had a bell go off in my consciousness that sensitive body and sensitive emotionaly are one in the same. How many years before it hit me over the head...i guess after a number of years resorting to taking valium which i always thought of as my emotional medicine, for helping me survive awful outbreaks of shingles and poison ivy. Nervousness is also connected to nerve endings. And i am incredibly sensitive to energies in the air...was at a Shamanic apprentice retreat on year with 30 peeps standing in a ritusl circle and lost my footing as i felt waves of energy pull me back and forth as i was standing at the "opening". We need to learn how to manage our energy as well as others and stay grounded. Hope, you should have every confidence you will experience much more love in this lifetime! And to make you feel better, at least your statistical odds are better than mine with only 5% of the population being lesbian! Id fo anything to be straight...straight single men are everywhere...but go months and months without meeting any single lesbians...of any age, let alone anywhere near 63. What i wouldnt give to get to just go out dancing and kick up my heals one last time before i die! So you go, girl!

Wolfgangminerva, I hope we will find someone too! It's possible! Megan54, I'm glad to be aware of being empathic, and at the same time, scared of having one more issue to contend with.

I thought my love life was over after I caught CFS but ended up meeting and marrying. I know other women with this illness and other illnesses that have had this happen too. There are some men who seem to thrive with a "sick" spouse, maybe because they don't have to fear being dumped.

My husband did resent my illness at times but I resented him at times too. So don't think it's not out there.

I have been married to an extrovert for 31 years and he appreciates me raising the kids and looking after headquarters. He does appreciate my hard stuff, but says he tries to understand and admits to not being a nurse. We pray together every morning, to commit our day and I really believe that has carried us through our stuff. I am a homebody and an introvert, and I've read that opposites make the best marriages. Hope2Heal, I had a heartbreak at 23, at a time when I was sick with food poisoning for 4 months and the relationship didn't last. I hope and pray you meet somebody who will be a forever friend.

Thank you hollieg and isabelle. hollieg, you give me hope some men don't mind a "sick" spouse. isabelle, I totally agree that your prayer every morning is what carries you through. If I ever marry again, I want prayer together to start each day.

What I've learned through this process is that what everyone should look for is someone who doesn't mind when their spouse is "sick". When we marry, we marry for the good and the bad. In sickness and in health - those are big words. This could happen to anyone. When he fell ill, my husband was young, strong, active, happy. It happened from one day to the next.

I'm so sorry to hear this relationship ended. My husband and I had troubles with our marriage due to my illness. Thankfully, after four years he finally started understanding that I wasn't faking it and I really am sick. I hope you find someone soon who understands your situation.

Thank you, flergirl. I am glad your husband understands. It takes a long time to educate someone. This gentleman is actually talking to me again, but I'm not too optimistic for anything more than friendship.
