Dudes, don't freak out, but Ladies, I was able to shave my legs today!
Years ago I had a friend who was in the hospital and she shared her general feeling of blah because she couldn't tend to her legs, she remarked that she was on the verge of calling in someone to do a french braid...yikes!
I've been having a really rough month, migraines and flares have been looping over and over again & I never seem to catch my breath.
But this little thing made me feel some kind of inner girly girl happiness today. I want to count my blessings whether small or tall and give kudos to being able to bend and move better, to be able to do a few honey dos for me and for my little house.
I was able to journal, sit in this chair comfortably, empty the trash, tidy the bed...at this rate, I just may cook dinner. Canned & frozen is great, but home cooked, even if it is humble makes my taste buds happy.
Today I could just sit up, did not have to do the hand on the arm, figure it out, slowly thaw, think how to stand, how to remain standing, how to take one step, balance and then take another step. I could just sit up and get up.
It was so surprising, that I had to just sit back down and say thank you. I've been stumbling and haven't been able to sit or stand or walk or do much of anything this month without the support of furniture and walls every inch of the way. I've been sleeping so much that I turned into cotton, tucked into blankies wrapped in pjs....just a mop of silver sticking out above the covers most days.
I'm still tired, still feel like I have general overall flu-like symptoms, but the ability to rise and walk feels like a huge gift, the kind you want to savor. Even last night, I was 3 inches shorter because I could not straighten up. I am appreciative of this respite, however long or brief.
Simple things mean so much to me, thank you Lord for giving me a grateful spirit. It feels like a rainbow or sunshine after a long hard stormy month.
