Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
a pale blue/green color called Evening Breeze, and the trim and curtains are white. Everything is light and ethereal. I have accents that are nature motifs, like birds and butterflies, etc. Feels like I am in a cloud. I use organic cotton bedding and pillows, no synthetic fabrics. And a few green plants. I have a small TV to watch a few shows at night. I have a rain chime box, you flip it over, and little metal balls fall onto bells inside the box at random intervals. It's very soothing.
The things I have done are:
Invested in a high quality, very comfortable bed with a nice head board. I make sure I have lots of pillows to prop myself up with, blankets and scatter cushions to make my bed look pretty.
I chose a restful very light green colour for my walls, neutral carpet and paintwork. Then I chose to bring some nice colour in by having patterned curtains.
I have a great view from my bedroom window of the open countryside/fields. I do find the light difficult sometimes so I have also got a blackout blind. I have 3 side lamps as I find this light easier than having the overhead light on.
I have a small 'altar'/focal space in my room with my crystals and some momentos, cards and things that mean stuff to me. That is my quiet space to sit and reflect upon or meditate.
I also like mirrors so have two of those. I think it helps to make the room look bigger.
I try and keep clutter down to a minimum, it stresses me and makes me want to tidy! I try and store as much away as possible.
Currently have 7 pillows - it's good to have some under knees, arms, and propping yourself up. I would definitely recommend at least 1 V-pillow, great for supporting you when. I'm just about to buy myself a memory foam mattress topper! I have a few different duvet covers, it means i can change what i see most often.
I have a neutral very pale yellow/cream on my wall, and fairylights around my wardrobe, which are great when i can't handle light. TV on wall next to my bed, with DVD player, and LOTS of dvd's.
Remote control light! I can dim it from in bed, my dad works as a decorator/handyman in the winter, and one of his older customers didn't get on with it, i LOVE it, makes life alot easier.
At christmas i had tinsel around my mirror, on my curtain rail, and 2 mini trees, one which was fibre optic.
Pretty baubles i keep all year round, they have coloured mirrors and are nice to watch.
I have different blankets and throws, as my temperature changes allll the time! So i can chuck them off as and when i want or wrap up in them.
More than anything in my room, my netbook is my lifeline, it's tiny, and light so i can have it on me in bed alot easier.
try and make things in your rooms changeable, so you don't get bored, having neutral colours on the walls means that you can change duvet covers/ accessories easily without having to do much.
Also, bedside table with a few drawers, can keep everything i could need within reach!
My current bedroom is NOT a "dream" situation in any way .... but my house is for sale (ha, ha.) I DO dream of my "ideal bedroom."
Here's what I have currently and I LOVE it ... but it is not set up for CFS. I love the colors in my room .... it's a warm grayish white and the trim is a different/warmer white. I have hardwood floors. My bed is very comfy and I have a small TV in an armoire at the end of my bed. I collect OLD mirrors and they are hung around on the walls .... the curtains are just simple sheers shirred on a rod. Almost minimalist. My bed is very cozy and I always use white organic cotton sheets and a duvet (no top sheet.) I love my pillows.
Here's what I WANT!!!
A bedroom w/an attached bathroom. In my bedroom I will get a headboard for my bed (currently I do not have a headboard) and a surface big enough to keep my laptop. I also dream of speakers for my iPod so i can listen to music in my room w/out earphones! My current TV is almost dead so I'd like to get a small flat screen for my armoire and a DVD player to go with it. I''d be happy w/the same colors ... but would like to add some more pillows to my bed. Maybe one of those reader's pillows??? I'd love bookshelves so I can keep baskets of yarns and books around. Eventhhough I can't DO a lot of reading all the time, i still love my books!
The most important thing is for my room to feel restful so I ALWAYS try and keep it picked up.
In my CLOSET I'd like to have a mini fridge w/water and hard boiled eggs in case it's too tough to get to the kitchen.
Pam, I LOVE the sound of your room. I want a rain chime box, too!!!
My room is not large, but not small either...it's...just right!!
It is painted in a very light mint green. The curtains are white lace with a darker green trim!! The floor is hardwood with a large throw rug on it.
I, also, am a neatnic, so I keep this room tidy!!
I have a dresser right to the right of my bed. It's top drawer is within arms reach. My phone is on this dresser. My makeup, phonebook, reading materials, devotional books, Bible, etc are on top of this dresser. I keep a small box of foods (prunes, unsalted pretzels, fig newtons) on the other side of this dresser as well.
My TV is in here across from my bed, and a Play Station II, for entertainment. I have my laptop in here as well.
So outside of a kitchen....I'm pretty well set up. The bathroom is right smack next to my room, so even if I'm crawling any day, I can get there without too much trouble!
My room is my safe place. My bed is a twin size, but full of comfy pillows and a mint green "bed in a bag" setup with everything matching. It's home! I love it!
Gee, I enjoyed talking about this....I'm in my room right now!
At this point you get box of buttons from store and hot glue magents to the backs of them.
Then you have a picture board of your friends and family. Something to make you smile before you fall asleep. These make great gifts too. ( :
Best Wishes
My bedroom is the most comfortable place in my home, I have done alot in there, and I will Not scrimp when it comes to my resting place, I have very good sheets, pillows, throws, no cheap stuff in there, if I have a few extra bucks in my pocket, that is where I spend it, in my bedroom, this is where we rest, where we heal from lifes traumas.
mine is darker, shades of browns, earthy colors, and have some sea greens thrown in for lighter touches, plus room darkening shades in case I need to rest and relax during the day, I pull them and can completely shut out the world.
I also have a small bose stereo I use, to play soothing music when I do my stretches, or to help my unwind and relax enough to sleep.
my bedroom is my space, completely mine, nothing touches me there.
I love reading this thread for some reason! I also enjoyed writing about my room too much, ha!
At the moment I have 2 bedrooms, one at home and one at uni. The one at uni has all my stuff really. The one here at home seems a lil cluttered and i'm not liking it very much. So i think when i have some energy I will attempt to de-clutter. Hehe.
I think it's important to talk about one of the most important places, which are our bedrooms!!
it was alot of fun, and she keeps it real nice now, where it used to be her catchall room !
How clever. I spend most of my time in my bedroom, especially sith the bad weather
My bedroom still has unpacked boxes from Sept. when we moved. Sigh. Please keep sending ideas..sice I do not know what I really wish.
There are folks that would help..but they wish to throw everything away...cds, angel speak, journals, geneology, etc (all the things I don't wish to live with out. There is not much storage in our house since my 3 grandchildren (and sometimes their parents) live w/me. But golly gee ...just think we used to live in two rooms..Can you imagine my bedroom then..lol.
Realistically, all things considered..and since I have moved so many times, I am doing pretty good. My excuse in the good weaather will be to sit in the sun and get Vit. D. While I am not out often, I am attending school at a community college which can be rather tiring depending upon the day.
Thank you all your creativety is very appreciated.
namaste...mlb
