I hate that you find yourself in this position. I'm afraid I have no answers as I am applying for disability myself. Did you get any help from Lupin's links on your previous post? I pray things work out for you.

I tried for over a year, showed my degree, my experience, etc. My mistake was telling the truth and saying I would always give my utmost while at work and that if I could work from home I could be even more productive but that my future was uncertain health wise. But had I lied I would have just gotten fired for not being there. After a year and over 50 applications I gave up and understood I am unemployable.

I applied for SSDI in Jan 2013 using Nov 2011 as a disabled date and was approved in Nov 2013. Applying for disability is a daunting task. I am not sorry I started with a lawyer from day 1. Applying for SSDI is a full time job all in itself....

I am applying for disability myself. I have worked a few jobs with CFS, but they were usually part-time and in most of the situations, I was sought out due to the fact I know Spanish. So, beggars can't be choosers, as they say. They kind of had to deal with my issues because they couldn't find anyone else in rural PA with a good Spanish background. Straight up, honey, you might want to consider applying for the UK's equivalent to disability. I know it feels like you are "giving up," but sometimes we have to realize that we are not able to work at a normal level anymore. You are a gem. Hold you head high. Much love.

I went thru the whole SSDI crap for over nine years just to run out of appeals. In the mean time I improved my life with wholesome foods, meditation, yoga, counseling, etc... To I now felt I could maybe work part time again. When I interviewed, I was honest about my limitations. And after I was hired I have had multiple chats about my health & how I tend to over do & push to hard. Now my boss tells me it's time to take a break or go home and rest 'cuz he wants me to be able to come back into work the next day & the rest of the week.

My advice is to apply for jobs you are sure you can do & be honest with them. Also don't expect to get paid as much as you did before you got sick. I'm making about 60% of what I used to, but at least it is something.

I don't know if this would work for you, but here is what I am able to do. I am a retired teacher (early retirement due to CFS). I used to work part time as a kindergarten teacher's assistant (3.5 hours a day). I am unable to work as a teacher substitute (too much stress managing behaviors), but I am able to work as a clerical substitute for school secretaries or office staff. For me it is the nice balance between having 1 on 1 interactions with students and interactions with adults (teachers and parents). I feel I am being helpful. As a clerical sub I can pick and chose how often I work (minimum 1 day a month) and what days I work. My CFS condition is not as severe as some others. I manage it with supplements and pacing. Go to askjan.org it has great accommodations for your job after you get it. It explains the Americans with DisabilityAct and how we can use it to help us with accommodations to be as productive as possible.

I was working at a job I loved & could work the days & time I wanted to as long as my work got done. Then I got sick & I couldn't seem to get to work most days. After several months, I had to tell my bosses that I couldn't work anymore & I haven't been able to work since. I was able to get Social Security Disability for the CFS & Fibro. This may be the way you have to go but if you feel that you can work go for it. Be honest about your limitations, we may be limited in energy & may have to take days off, but we are intelligent people & very social when we can be.
