ADHD meds for CFS

Are any of you on meds for ADHD to help w/ cfs symptoms?


I have not ever heard of that until here lately.


If you are, can u share your experience? That last thing I really want to do is add yet another drug... bc i have RA as well, but if it helps, it might be worth looking at.

Hi Gingergirl,
I just watched a documentary on Adderall and how it has become this generation's speed, because that is essentially what it is. It is on Netflix. So, it might help for CFS symptoms. I can't take prescription drugs due to my chemical sensitivity. Let me know if you try it. The best of luck. Boo

If I take Adderall it brings on all my symptoms in force, but methylphenidate is ok. When I became ill, my adrenaline levels were high as demonstrated not only by symptoms but by elevated urinary catecholamines. Adderall increases adrenaline but methylphenidate doesn't. I'm sure that Adderall is fine for some people but for myself it's poison.

kittyboo, can u tell me more about methylphenidate? What does it do for you?

It's Ritalin. It's an ingredient in the combo "K pax" (I think that's home it's spelled). It's considered safer than Adderall, so is a first choice for children.

More on this: my bad, K pax pharmaceuticals is the manufacturer of Synergy, which is the combination of low dose Ritalin plus some nutrients that support mitochondria. Apparently the nutrients are important in helping to utilize the methylphenidate. A clinical trial just finished and it's working great for a lot of people.

I have been on adderall, various mg for roughly 20 years. It has been a life saver for me. On days that I need to function, I use it. On days that I'm home and not doing anything, I tough it out without taking the meds and stay in bed. I wouldn't be here today if my dr didn't put me on it...if u catch my drift.
