I think that CFS or any life challenging event gives us an opportunity to see our lives more clearly. With CFS I have had to cut out many dreams and aspirations. Now I find myself glad. CFS forced me to focus. That has been a blessing.
In your last paragraph you spoke of a new person and new ways of being. That is our choice to make as we deal with CFS and life. Good luck with your struggles to change and I'm glad you have found new serenity.
I'll add my wish of happy holidays to all.
countries, ethnicties and religions. I too
have found sustenence, hope and strength from
reading the posts on DS. Just realizing that
this illness crosses borders, genders and
a wide range of ages was
surprising to me. So I wish to thank all the
people who share here. Who have shed light on how they cope, how they see their 'new selves' and how they live day to day. That
has enabled me to come to terms with my 'new
self' as well.
Thank you for your inspiring message
of patience and tolerance Max. It's
good to read especially today.
May you all have Warm and
satisfying Holidays.
We have what we have. Now, how do we choose to use what we have?
I'll never give up hope of being "normal" again, but I'm not counting on it either. In the meantime, I still have a life to live.
Things happen that adversely affect our bodies, but those things cannot touch our souls, our spirits, unless we allow it.
I am so proud to be a part of such a special group of people. You all amaze me with your strength and perseverance.
Max, thank you for posting, I am also in that phase where I'm trying to find the patience and serenity to make the best of everything I can, inspite of the challenges.
I do the same as you, I read the many posts and mostly do not comment, but I gain strength and understanding from this wonderful group of people who are very much like me.
I wish for everyone the most peaceful of holidays.
I agree with absolutely everything you have all written.
I often tell people that I am glad I got sick, they look at me a bit strangely but I truly believe it is the best thing that's happened to me.
Yes it sucks that I've had to almost stop working and that I have had to put my studys on hold, it also sucks that I can't jump on my bike and get myself up the hill, it sucks that I can't hang out with my friends so often and that I have to manage this illness daily BUT I am glad that when everyone is working I get to meditate, have a bath, hang out with my dog and watch tv.
I get to stop, listen to my body and really take care of myself. I was forced to slow down, well basically stop, and reflect on myself, I found out my priorities were all wrong. Now I have more compassion for people, I have met a beautiful, kind man and I have more love and kindness for people, even when I have no energy.
Happy Christmas everyone
