I take it you don't have sick pay? It doesn't sound very legal for your boss to not let you spend time recovering from illness. It's not worth getting more and more ill. Can you get some legal advice on your rights?

I lost my job the first time I got CFS and later had to quit self-employment 3 or 4 times. to be honest, I wish I had stopped earlier and got myself better. In the end I had to live with family. Your health is the most important thing here - whatever you do don't push yourself too hard or you could end up bedridden. Can you explain to your boss that if you don't manage this crash by working from home you will have to leave?

You are in a really tough situation and your boss sounds rather mean. I'm sure you have legal rights when it comes to sick leave.

Oh, I *have* sick leave. She just gets on me when I use it. it really cheeses me off. She's supposed to be a temp manager at that, but I thinkt he comapny has decided not to relace my former boss. She doesn't know about my CFS yet. I don't feel comfortable telling her before I have everything arranged legally. I guess it's time to get Human Resources involved already. Even then, our company only allows a max of one day per week at home (ridiculous). Might have to move up my mtg with the doc.

I'm sorry to hear you have a boss that is not compassionate or understanding. I'm lucky that I'm able to work part-time and thus go home and rest after work. I think its smart that you want to make the CFS "official" before you talk to work about it. Good luck on getting your doctor's appt. moved up.

I'm sorry your boss is being difficult. I can understand not wanting to expose yourself to ridicule, which is most likely what will happen if you tell an unsafe person (your boss) about the CFS. So many people don't even think it's a real thing. Imagine that! You HAVE to take care of yourself. This illness can progress more if you continue to crash consistently. You have to stop the cycle. I know what it is like to only be able to work part-time or to have to work at home. That's what I am doing now. We depend largely on my husband's income, but we struggle because I am not able to work much. It's not fun, but I have come to understand that I don't have to feel bad or apologize for this illness. Thanks everyone. Mostly I'm not ready to tell her bc I don't trust her. I'm used to ridicule, that's nothing new. But I'm afraid if I tell her shell try to get rid of me before I get it on the books and am protected. If I want the primary breadwinnerbthis would be so much easier.
