I am sitting here waiting for the call from ED, as she is coming to spend the night while in town. We are going out to eat, and to church tomorrow.

This feels very odd after everything that has gone on. She said that she'd come back as long as "there is no discussion or tears about our rough patch". Which makes me feel as though she feels rather silly about the whole thing.

I dunno, but things will surely be different from the last time we saw one another(6 months ago, for about half an hour). I feel like I really have to guard my heart on one hand, and that I am just going to be myself on the other.

I thank God for this break-through, but it still feels so odd. Prayers, please!

I, too, hope the meeting went well. I am not sure I am at a place yet where a meeting with my ED would go well.........but I am trying. I was hoping to see her last week but that didn't happen and probably best it did not considering the circumstances....My Nana used to use the expression "going through a bad patch." I like that, it makes me think of how she viewed things:) I miss her and my Mom and Pop and MIL, FIL's and all those that have passed but I am also grateful they were not around to see this estrangement unfold.....even though sometimes I think if they were around maybe I wouldn't be here and estranged, they would have taken a firm stance years ago. I pray things go well for you, please let us know!

I want to believe that your relationship with your ED is progressing to reconciliation. Prayers have been answered. Blessings.

We will see what happens. I think it was mainly a face-saver for her, given the grief she's had from other people because of the estrangement.

One thing is for sure. Our relationship will never be as it was before. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but my mourning for what 'was' has to change to hope for what 'can be', given the estrangement and our new way of viewing the other.

Thanks for all your prayers. It is so helpful to know people who understand the grief and traps and hopes and longings of these sorts of situations are praying. It is such a biting and harsh experience.
