If we want depth and growth, we will seek out friends who are honest with us, challenge us, and expect us to grow."

If we go to friendships to make us feel better about ourselves and meet our need for connection or intimacy, we will end up hurt, disappointed, and bitter. People are people, and no person is capable of meeting those needs. That’s what God is for.


When we make God our best friend, we feel loved, protected, and accepted. We don’t need people’s approval or praise because we always have more than enough with God.


Once you have this with God, you can begin to have friendships that are actually refreshing and meaningful, because you can help make each other better by pointing each other back to God."

Great article. I don't have a lot of Christian close friends right now. It gets harder to become close friends with people when you get older. My one close friend locally died of RA Lung Disease in Feb. I am in contact with old friends in Edmonton, where I used to live. I talk to my grown children a lot.

Good friends don’t just materialize from nowhere. You have to be willing to do the work.

Friendship usually doesn’t “just happen” – it takes two people to put in the effort! And friends, it is worth the effort – Two are better than one!
