SCAM! BEWARE!

I received this e-mail below and was trying to get the supposed refund that they told me was going to be charged to my debit card. Unfortunately, I gave the scammer my name, address, birth date and driver license number and debit card numbers. But fortunately, the two debit cards were never activated so the person didn't succeed in what he was trying to do. He then told me he had to do the(fake) refund through my checking account(s). I caught on his scam when he told me he had to send me $1,500 which would be deposited into my checking account and I would have to refund him back the amount of $1,500 minus $298.99 all would be done on my computer right when he and I were on the phone and I was at my computer. I told him then that I didn't feel safe and had to end this talk (the fake process of refund) right there. 


I am worried about having given this man my birth date and driver license number but he didn't ask me for my social security number. Being as stupid as I was at the moment, I would have given it to him if he asked. The $298.99 has never been charged to my checking account and I am sure never will. Thought I would let everyone know about this scam. I thank God the debit cards were not activated (I was not aware they were not), and I called the bank to cancel them and replace them.

Wow! So sorry they tried to scam you! I use a Mac, I don't seem to need anti-viral software. I used to get a lot of scam calls with someone saying my PC needed to be fixed, and I needed to let them take over my computer. I just answered, I use a Mac, never used a PC and don't ever phone me again. And hang up, block the number. If they had said Mac instead of PC, I might have gotten scammed, too!

Well, at least you never got charged!

Unfortunately, they did get in to charge a large amount in one of the bank accounts but the whole story turned very weird. I went inside the bank to talk to a clerk and was told I had to close the two accounts and open new ones or the fraud protection will not pay for any future problems, so I changed the checking accounts' numbers. I am grateful that God protected us from losing money but it was a big mess. The bank is still in the process of investigating the fraud. The bank advised me to take my computer, which is a desktop, to a shop. My daughter thinks the crook can see everything I do on my computer right now. I have not had the computer looked at and still using it so it is not a wise thing to do. My daughter was out of town when all this mess happened. She will come back home today. She knows how to delete files so we will try that first. As I mentioned the situation turned very weird, and I am depressed, very very depressed.

I hope you are getting better from the unwell conditions. I have been praying for you..

Thanks for your prayers. I am feeling much better. As I result, my depression is lifting. I'm mostly depressed about being so isolated for so long. Not being in so much pain has been so important. I realized my morning stiffness was actually fibromyalgia. I've been take 100mg Gabapentin, which has helped. I'm not supposed to take it, because it is damaging my kidney function.But it makes such a difference taking it! Being able to get out should help, too!

Thanks Marlene. I am glad you are feeling better. I have fibromyalgia too and cannot take painkillers because of my ulcer situation. The pills will tear my ulcer causing the bleeding. My body aches usually happen when I am sleeping at night and decrease after I get enough sleep. The pains are from arthritis in my right hip and the problem in my cervical spine.

We have very little or no support from families and friends. My next plan in regard to helping my daughter learn life skills is to get her to continue practicing driving. She needs to take a written test to renew her learning permit. One health problem that makes it difficult for her to do much is the overactive gallbladder situation. Oneo fher doctors advised her to have the gallbladder removed. That has not been done yet. Waht it does is it gives her nausea and stomach aches. Please pray for her that God will provide human support and financial resources for her in the future. As of now, she is on SSI. Please pray for her that God will give her the best place to be at after my husband and myself are gone. Her only other support is her friend who is the only friend she has who she knew from second grade. Please also pray that my daughter and my husband will accept Jesus as their Savior.
