I so love the hymns. I was raised on them back when that was what "Christian music" was.

The first church I went to when I was 20 years old which is an Assembly of God church used hymns in the services. I was in the choir. The first song I learned to sing in the choir was "He Hideth My Soul," in Thai language version. I miss being able to sing along while listening to songs on youtube. The endoscopy that was done twice when I had the bleeding ulcer busted my singing voice. I can still sing but it takes a lot of effort and energy to get the sound out. Singing along used to be one of the things I liked to do. It was very therapeutic. I think I may be able to practice to get that voice back. Hymns help give positive thoughts. They are usually cheerful.
