How to Get Out of a Spiritual Burnout
God and the Bible give us solutions to dealing with spiritual burnout so we don't get knocked down and give up.
After many years of a global pandemic, it’s easy to feel tired. As stressors have built up, we are all at risk of burnout. The good thing is God and the Bible give us solutions to dealing with spiritual burnout so we don’t get knocked down and give up. Things like religiosity, behaviorism, and a performance-driven mindset will make us feel burned out.
Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses. So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach. They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.
— Matthew 23:1-4 NLT
When we don’t engage in deep relationships, deep spirituality, and deep honesty, we become impersonal, detached, and behavior-focused. This affects both ourselves and those around us. We need to acknowledge what is wearing us out, especially the ways in which we become focused on rules and behaviors.
“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and self-indulgence! You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too.
— Matthew 23:25-26 NLT
Addressing these things with God and friends will bring us relief. Check out this One Quick Thought to learn how God wants to give us the relief and refreshment we’re looking for through our relationship with him.

“Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long tassels. [6] And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues. [7] They love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi.’

According to His riches in glory refers to a biblical promise found in Philippians 4:19, which states that God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. This verse emphasizes God's provision and generosity towards believers.

If we can just walk with God daily He'll never lead us astray; and His "yoke* is easy".

Please pray for me about clearing paths in our house for a new refrigerator to come through. Our old refrigerator died and can't get out. A new one we ordered turned out to be too big to come through the back door that I spent five days straight clearing the area. We are using a mini refrigerator for the time being. There is some space in the basement where I can move the things in the living room and porch to.
I pray you and everyone are doing well and have a good weekend.
Thanks for the song. That's one of the hard things about this website, and others with no real names, when people are gone we don't know why. Sometimes people drop out and are gone for months or years.
I'm ok for now I was just really overwhelmed with caregiving for both my family members. Thank you so much for your prayers. I should be gone again in a few days for a week or 10 days as my older family member wants to go on a road trip to a part of our state where I'm not sure they actually have Internet, or maybe it's just spotty, and it's my first time going there and they need me to make the preparations because they're a lot less able now. Please keep me in your prayers for safety as it is an unfamiliar place for me and I will have to manage care for both them and my son. Thank you so much.
I hope you will both be able to get adequate rest and to clear the path you need.
Peace and blessings to you.
I will be praying for you about the trip and that God will give you strength to do things you have to do. I am sorry you have to do so much. I hope you have time to rest too. I am going to be busy, and tired, doing the clearing but will check the group's posts as always. I hope you all enjoy the trip and keep safe.
I hope you're having a good week.
Peace and blessings to everyone.
Thank you for letting me know about your postponing the trip. I hope you all live in a safe place. I postponed my colonoscopy again to June 5 because I didn't feel well from the hectic house decluttering. It turns out that clearing the path for a new refrigerator to come through the front door will take a lot more time than I thought because of my low energy. I am doing it very slowly. We have been eating a lot of cheeseburgers. Please keep me in your prayers.
I don't think I mentioned I got the orange cat back two months ago. The woman's daughter gave birth to a baby, and they put the cat to live outside. The baby and his mother seem to come and go in that house. My guess is the cat slept under their deck. He came to ask for food at our house. It would not work out with me for him to live under his previous owner's deck and come to eat at our house after I had him living inside our house. I couldn't stand the fact of him roaming around outside looking for food and slept outside so I took him in again. The woman has not come to ask about him. I hope she won't and agrees it is better for this cat to live indoors 24/7 with us. I am very happy to have him back. I assume she can guess I have the cat.
I will post more soon. I hope you and everyone have a good weekend. I pray for everyone as usual.
