This week is a little different message but, if we would consider these things, we would be more productive in our testimony and in our daily lives as Christians,
I. Wake Up: Psalms 118: 24
'Today is a day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it"
Many people wake up each morning and say "good Lord, morning" instead of saying "Good morning, Lord".
Sometimes, the only time we want to converse with God is when we want something or when we are in a crisis of some kind. The Lord wants us to converse with him daily. He is our strength and or shelter in the time of storm, He is our sword and our shield. He is our Heavenly Father, who loves us and cares about us,
II. Dress Up: I Sam. 16 vs-7
"Man looks on the ourward man but, God looks on the heart"!
The best way to dress up is with a smile. It's been said that it takes more muscles in your face to frown, than it does to smile. I do not know if that is true but, it's a good thought anyway. People who smile, often set the
atmosphere of things around them. Even when someone opens a door for you and they smile at you, it has an effect on your attitude and your demeanor. It does not cost you to smile. It is the best way to improve your appearance. A smile brightens one's countenance. The problem of today is, often times if we are not careful, we walk around with a frown and the "lost" of this world sees us. They percieve that we are not happy either therefore, they do not care about anything we have as a Christian.
III. Shut Up: Proverbs 19:20
"He who guards his lips, guards his soul"
Sometime, we should weigh what we say, before we say it. I am sure you have heard the old saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but, words will never hurt me". That sounds macho but, it is not true. Words do hurt. What people say to us does hurt. A statement made in anger or in malice, can wound someone deeper and the pain last longer, than a physical injury can. This wonderful "created computer" we can the "brain", has endless files in which to file words, and statements that hurt us. In many cases, these are stored in our "memory banks" for years.
IV:Stand Up: Galations 6 vs-9-10
"And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due time, we shall reap if we faint not". As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the faith."
Remember the old saying and, there was a song put out years ago entitled :"You got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything". We as Christians must take a stand. The problem with America today is, that we as Christians have been silent too long, we have became complacent with what is going on around us and we have allowed things to degress around us, laws to be passed that are anti-God, anti-Christian and we have allowed ungodly people to become elected officials who now dictate to us laws that do not coincide with God's word.
V. Look Up: Phillipians 4:13
" I can do all things through Christ, which strengthenth me".
We have became a society to feels that we no longer need God. We rely on the Govt. or some other subsiduary to take care of us. When our nation was at war from 1941 through 1945, there was a great time of prayer and devotion to God , His word and, His principles for life. Many of our leaders in Washington were God fearing Christians who sought wise counsel and who spent much time in prayer concerning the decisions that needed to be made as we went through some of the hardest times in history of our nation.
We have took prayer out of schools, the Bible out of schools, the 10 commandments off the courthouse walls of this nation. We have changed prayers in high places that now omit "in Jesus name" in them. The leaders of our nation have tried to remove God out of everything and we wonder why our nation is in the mess it is in.
I truly believe, that itis the Christians in this Nation, that is standing between America and God's wrath. You can only mock God for so long. You can only defame Him for so long. You can only shed innocent blood, so long. God will judge America for her sinfulness. It's not if He will, it's when He will. It is coming!!!!!!!!
VI. Reach Up: Collosians 1:27
"To whom God would make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of Glory".
Always try to better yourself as a Christian. Never settle for just a mediocre relationship with Christ. Paul said his desire for these Ephesians was " to know the love of Christ, which passeth all knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God". Ephesians 3 vs 19.
VII. Lift Up: Phillipians 4 vs-6
"Be careful for nothing but, in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God".
God wants us to talk to Him. When I sang with a gospel group called "Living Proof", we sang a song entitled "Just a little talk with Jesus". Sometimes in the craziness of todays world. In the daily busyness of society, we often times forget to talk to the Lord. Like I said earlier, the only time we talk to Him is when we are in a crisis of some type. We ignore Him day after day, week after week, month after month but, as soon as a crisis comes into our lives, we want to get in touch with Him right away and we want Him to fix things, right now. Shame on us. We need to spend time with Him, every day. How else can we get to Know Him. How else can we be in the right fellowship with Him.
I realize that this is a simple message but, there are a lot of practical things listed, that will help all of us live a better life, a happier life and a more fulfilled and secure life, if we will just put these things into practice.
Have a great week everyone. God Bless you all.
