Cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder. It is commonly due to impaction (sticking) of a gallstone within the neck of the gall bladder, leading to inspissation of bile, bile stasis, and infection by gut organisms. Cholecystitis may be a cause of right upper quadrant pain. In severe cases, the gall bladder can rupture and form an abscess.
Hi everyone!
I just joined and was wondering if anyone has any info on what foods to eat or not to eat. I have what my gastroenterologist called a "lazy" gallbladder. No gallstones. 8 % function according to my hida-scan. I cant believe that there's not a single source of information on what to eat! I pick up pieces here and there on the internet and its quite aggravating! One site says no nuts. Others say walnuts, pistacios and peanuts are okay. Confusing!!! What about almonds? I use almond flour instead of white or wheat flour and dont know if this is unwise. What about seeds? Are seeds and nuts considered in the same family? If legumes are not okay, then why are green beans allowed? A little help would be great.
I am also confused as to why my doctor would tell me to try to lose weight on Atkins if its widely known that Atkins aggravates gallbladder issues! I dont get that one at all. I love my diet, it does seem to work, albeit slowly. I have lost seventeen pounds in one year on Atkins and would hate to go off this diet because of gallbladder pain/gas/cramping/bloating/diarrhea... Its the only diet that has ever worked for me.

why dont you just have it removed?

Malic acid softens gallstones, make it easier to flush out.
BTW, gallstones are cholesterol and bile combined together. Sludge are the small undefined bile stones not fully formed or baby gallstones.. I posted some pictures of gallstones in my profile page. Have a look.
