Hey guys... I am new here, but I am trying to dig through some past stuff, and curious if anyone else has been put in the middle of a custody battle.
I am currently 31, my parents divorced when I was 3. However when I was 13 my mom decided she wanted to move from Colorado (the state my father lived in where I saw him every other weekend, and every other holiday) to Vermont. If my mom took me away, my father would then only see me every other holiday. My dad ended up taking my mom to court to try to gain custody of me. I was called to the principal's office in the middle of math class when I was 8th grade to take a phone call with the judge of my parent's case. After an hour long conversation, the judge basically asked me what parent I loved more. Since my mom had primary custody of me since I was 3, I had to say I guess I would rather live with my mother. I feel like that discussion decided the case. My mom ended up winning, and my father was essentially ripped out of my life. I think I have subconsciously carried this guilt all my life.
Anyway... curious if anyone else has gone through a experience where they were put in the middle of a situation like this. I'd love to hear your story.

I have 3 kids. 24. 17. 15. My 17 yr old has become super defiant. He and his 15 yr old sister have on their own decision stopped going to their dads because he and his household is so toxic.My 15 yr old and myself feel like we have to tip toe around my son who is 17. And physically towers over us and out weighs us. He has become emotionally abusive and on the verge of becoming physically...
When my parents divorced my dad was the one who went out of town for work a lot, but my mom and both sets of grandparents (for better or worse) lived essentially locally (i.e. same state, much closer than my dad).
Seven or eight years later when my parents remarried each other I barely remembered what he looked like.
