I went to court last week because my ex was in contempt of court for not paying child support. The judge ordered an arrest warrant. I just wanted to know do the police actively go out and look for these dead beat dads? Or is it up to the moms to fin them? Any advice would be much appreciated.

The police do not actively go looking for them...however if they get pulled over for a traffic violation the police will see there is a warrant and take them then and there. If you know where he is, you can call in a tip to the police department letting them know and then most of the time they will actively go get them.

Have you discussed whether or not he is willing to cooperate with you? I know that the law gives custodial parents a great deal of power over non-custodial parents. Sometimes, this power results in a situation of economic and legal subjugation, in which the law can be used to deprive a non-custodial parent of the ability to comply with the law, putting him or her in a catch-22 situation which does not help the children in any way. I'm not assuming this to be your case, but I also know from experience that open communication can be the best way to advocate your children.

He made it pretty clear that he would not cooperate with me. When I said I would file for contempt of court unless he paid at least SOME child support (he has never made a single payment) he told me I was stupid and that the court didn't really issue warrants for child support. He stayed away for 3 years and didn't support his daughter at all, which I was OK with. He decided to file for visitation rights, not me. Now he can live with the responsibilities.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
