Disappointment With God

I just wondered how many here have read the book by that title by Philip Yancey. I'm reading it for the fourth time and am still gleaning fresh insights from it. If you've read it,I'd like to know what you thought of it. It's an excellent Christian book,one of the best I've ever read. Perhaps we could have a discussion about it. That might be interesting.

It is. It provides answers to three questions: Is God unfair? Is God silent? Is God hidden? It doesn't sound like a Christian book,but it has strengthened my faith maybe more than any other inspirational book. Except the Bible of course LOL.

BLESSINGS , I really don't read any Christians books anymore, ''THE WORD OF GOD'' is all I need, in the past I filled my bookshelves with Christian books, some I have read some I never had the time , and have some from a pastor that has lied and one committed adultery, so now I just trust ''THE LORD''.
If you found that this book helped you than that is a blessing but focus your eyes in ''THE WORD'', to grow, be strengthened, grow in holiness..'

Thank you all for your replies. Joy,I understand your point,however in my case,a good Christian book always inspires me to dig deeper into the Word. I started reading the King James Version again,for some reason if I want to read the Bible cover to cover,I always seem to go with that version because that's the one I read that led to me being born again. I like other versions (my favorite is the New Living Translation),but they have really helped me understand the KJV better.
When I lived in Virginia,I attended a KJV-only Baptist church. Maybe we could discuss that: How do you feel about Christians who say the KJV is the only accurate version?

I would appreciate not going into a very controversial subject. But, then, how will we know unless we talk about it!
I have LOTS of problems with anyone who says anything that they cannot back with scripture. There is no way anyone can say that the scripture says any one translation is best. I believe that each person must make up his own mind. I put scripture from three of my favorite translations. I want all to realize that there are more translations out there than just the KJV.

So, after saying I wish you wouldn't go there, I went there. I think we should be open to debates. Just so long s "Name calling" or "religion" bashing" is not part of any discussion.

It's OK with me if we don't continue the discussion. I was just throwing that out for everyone to consider. You're right,Mary,it is a controversial subject. I don't know what I was thinking. My bad! LOL Btw good Saturday morning to everyone! {HUGS}

I have no problem with this subject getting talked about. actually, thanks Loddy, for bringing it up.

I just ask that no "name calling" or "religion bashing" take place. Those comments WILL be removed.

I believe if it can't be backed up with scriptural reference than it can't be Biblical.

This is a community that shares things. We should be free to bring up subjects that are important to us. They should be important to all. If it is important to you, I would like to hear about it.

I don't know the author, but it sounds like a good book I read called God On Mute.
There's another good one called Plan B by Pete Wilson
