I had my leep procedure done almost 2 yrs ago I think, I found the numbing needle hurt a bit but the worst thing was the burning smell that came when they closed the wound with the hot loop it was gross back then I had cin 3 cells removed now I have to make another appt for more not sure what grade yet have to get a colp done

sorry just wanted to add after my surgery I too had a perfect 8 pound 8 baby only within 12 months of the surgery so there is hope!

hi all- i am new to the site. i am going in for the LEEP procedure tommorow morning and I am scared to death. My doctor said that I have high grade lesions on my cervix, not quite sure what that means. But, I am hoping and praying it does not show cancer. This all comes as such a shock. The last year of my life has been awful and then this.
But, as I understand it, cervical cancer is relatively easy to treat. The LEEP procedure is suppose to remove a good majority of the affected cells and prevent any reoccurance on the disease. This is as I understand it.

I've had 3 LEEP's & for me, they are unsuccessful. After the 1st, dr. thought he got it all but was wrong. After the 2nd, he suggested having a hyst & be done with it. Have a new dr. now after the last one, it's been suggested that I have a hyst. again. I don't think a LEEP can be effective once it spreads to the canal (?)
It was an easy, pretty painless procedure for me, from the 1st time I had it done.

well, my first pap after the leep came back normal, which is a huge relief. i know that there's still some more waiting to do, but it's a good feeling knowing that the treatment was effective and i can go on to have a normal, healthy, reproductive life. there is hope!

I DID GO ON THE SITE AND ITS GREAT, BUT THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTING ANYONE ELSE TO REGISTER. I FELT BAD ABOUT THAT. SORRY, IT SEEMED LIKE ANOTHER REJECTION OF A PLACE I CANT GET INTO. ONLY IN CYBERSPACE. I also had LEEP done last year around October. I really don't remember much about the surgery because i was out. The after math wasn't all that great cause you just feel really gross cause for me i couldn't take a shower for a week after it was done. I have gotta go back in March 2008 cause my results came back abnormal so i am kinda playing the waiting game. I am here for anyone that's ever had to endure this. I am a mother of 2 and a wife. Cancer is the last thing that i wanna have to worry about.

I have had this procedure done several times. The first time i had it done i was 17. The doc asked if i wanted it done under a general and as iwas nervous i agreed. I cancelled my op 3 times and in the end they had to do it when i had a really bad case of Tonsilitus because they were worried about cells progressing. I just remember feeling relieved after it was done and wish i had not cancelled. I have had to have it done 3 times since then. My first experience under a local was nerve racking. I was so scared about the pain. My doc got me in the usual position, then injected my cervix several times with a local, the injections did make me wince abit but the procedure was painless. I remember bleeding quite heavy afterwards and really bad period pains and cramps and curling up on the sofa with a hot water bottle my duvet and a couple of pain killers for the rest of the day. I have seen so many different drs that i have lost count. I changed my original consultant because he did a biopsy when i was 9 weeks pregnant. I had been told by my midwife that i should not have it done at this stage and as my results were ok i could wait a bit. But he went ahead and did it and i lost the baby 2 days later. I have now found a great dr who makes sure he sees me himself every time.

I am scheduled for a leep on Tues 04/22/08, what are the after affects/symptoms experiences of anyone who has had this proceedure?

Pegleg, Thank you for letting us know that they were accepting new registration. I had tried registering for at least the last 8 months without success. I had all but given up trying, but I just finished registering.
