Was great to hear that you all had fun on the ATV's at the farm... it brought back fond memories of the days I spent on our farm when I was a kid like Lucas... and what a fantastic goal to set!

hi, i am new to this site, i noticed a couple of your posts about your son, hi shas mild spastic cp? i hope i have got the right. my daughter is now 7 and she was born with mild spastic cp it affects her mainly on her left side and from her hips down, she is independatly mobile. is rocked our world when we found out, she has two older brothers and one yonger brother, to begin with i found it hard to get my head round, we live in a small village and every one knows every one, our peadiatrician told us that she had got a small amount od brain damage but it would not get any worse , but can not tell us how she will be as she gets older, but then again no one can tell you about any of your children, she is my daughter and what ever her diability i have we have never stopped her from doing any thing that she wanted to do, obviously within reason. the biggest challeges she finds are P.E. she has a one to one support in shop, but i do think that she needs to try and be as independant as she can, but only you know your child and you will instinctivly know how to help him, what i found also unfortunatley, small children just except her for her, they dont askk many questions about how she walks or any of that, it is the older children that she has mor issues with, and as she is getting older she is becoming aware that she is not the same as everyone else, and when the time is right we will explain to her what she has, but right now she needs to just be a child and have fun, she copes very well she has got a very head strong attitude which we hope will stand her in good stead for the rest of her life. Physiotherapy is one of the best things that will help your son my daughter has daily physio, from me, she also benifets from hydrotherapy, they can stretch under the warm water and the water will take the pain way, horse riding is another brilliant excersise, she has benifited loads from that , it helps them to sit up straight and encourages muscle tone in their legs, not to mention she is horse mad so that helps i also found that giving her a warm bath every night it help with the pain in her legs and helped her sleep she doesnt sleep well never has,and trying to get her to stretch out her legs in the water, we have a reclining bath chair for her so she doesnt have to struggle in the bath, ask your therapist, we have ahd loads of help from ours,.
