I feel your pain with the spasms. I get cramps and spasms in my legs all the time.
I was abused as a child as well, and waken violently from sleep, on the rare occasion that I do sleep. This is one of the reasons I can't maintain relationships, since I find it difficult to sleep in the same bed without the possibility of injuring the other person.
It's a bunch of crap I don't really want to have to deal with. But what can I do? Just keep on and do what I can.
CP has "returned" like an SOB now that I am in my 40's. In some ways the symptom have gotten worse, much worse, especially general pain. At the moment I am having what I call a high frequency spasm in my right leg, I actually feel several sensations going because so there are so many muscles from my hip to toe. But the spasms/tremors have gotten worse after 39yo, to the point of me burning so many calories that I dropped 37 pounds over the last 5 years - and I was already skinny to begin with! The only non-Benzo that helped was Baclofen, it helped a lot with the spasms, but it ramped up my metabolism to the point of breaking out in sweats and bizarrely made me lose more weight.
Magnesium does zero for me. The best thing that I have found for my spasms and related pain, as well as improving weight gain, is only legal in a handful of states as of yet...
