i have major stomach problems and have for years but i dont have loose stool i have gas and food hurts my stomach so i dont think so hugs charlene

Give a gluten-free diet a try and see what happens. If you feel better, you've got your answer. The 'gold standard' tests are not perfect.

It's like CalGal said..those tests are not always accurate. If there isn't enough damage done yet or if there weren't enough biopies taken those two factors can throw off your results.

I would suggest you get the bloodwork done. Make sure he has you tested for a full celiac panel:

There are a total of 6 tests that should be run for Celiac disease.

(1) Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA

(2) Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG

(3) Anti-Tissue Transglutamise (tTg) IgA

(4) Total Serum IgA

If all your tests are negative, you may just have a wheat allergy and not celiac disease.

I seem to have the same symptoms as you and went to the Celiac clinic at Columbia in NY. My blood tests were neg again, but I tested positive for one gene and had major Vit D malabsorption. Dr. Lewis (a colleague of Dr. Green's) even suggested that I try a Gluten free diet to see how I felt after a few weeks, then consider a gluten challenge for a scope biopsy if I decided to go that route. I was so tired of doctors and confused, but after reading several posts on the forum about Enterolab, I decided to try that route. I was still eating gluten when I sent in my stool sample (sorry!) even though you can stop eating it and still get reliable results. (Someone on the forum called the lab and was impressed with their willingness to answer questions.)

I ordered the Gluten Sensitivity panel and I am including the whole report so that you can see what info you would receive. Also there is a link on the page to help you interpret the results.

Bottom line, I've felt terrible for years, I've been gluten free about a month (since the test) and I feel better. I am very serious about not getting any hidden gluten in case I do have Celiac, but at this point, I know that I have a gluten sensitivity which needs to be treated with a gluten free diet. The tests also give me a baseline so that when I have the tests again next year I can measure improvement in the numbers. I did not have the gene test from the lab since I had that in NY, but I would recommend the option that includes the gene test. I checked out their website extensively, read articles by Dr. Fine from the lab and figured that it might save me from having the endoscopy. I know the scope is the gold standard, but also knowing that you can get a false negative was a little disconcerting considering the price and the procedure. (I have had 3 endoscopes in the past but not for possible Celiac, so I was not excited about going through that again even though it truly is not a difficult procedure, just time and money. So that being said, good luck and the results are as follows:

Oops, here are the results from Enterolab.( I also want to mention that Dr. Lewis would not have suggested that I try gluten free and then a challenge before a scope if I had some of the more debilitating symptoms that many celiacs have. Continuing to eat gluten for me would not have kept me in the bathroom suffering as many on the forum have experienced, so continuing to eat gluten for a challenge is not the option for many:

thanks guys for your replies right now im trying probiotics to see if there is a difference in my symptoms im going to a blood dr about my blood being so low maybe he has sme insight thanks again charlene

All my test were neg. to, but i have DH so i went on a gluten free diet, before the testing. The DH tells the truth.
