Celiac Disease Support Group
Celiac disease is an auto-immune disorder of the digestive system that occurs in genetically-predisposed individuals. It is characterised by damage or flattening to all or part of the villi lining the small intestine, which interferes with the absorption of nutrients. This damage is caused by eating anything with gluten (gliadin), a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley...
"Goya Foods. Inc.: we cannot guarantee that any of our products are completely gluten-free. We have certain products such as Goya Rice Flour, Goya Corn Meal, and Goya Masarepa, whose
ingredients are gluten free; however, they could be exposed to wheat products during packaging. These specific products are packaged on alternate days, and wheat flour is also packaged at these plants. The exposure to wheat may be very minimal."
I have not attempted to experiment with them either. Not worth the consequences. There are too many iffy ingredients in them. Thank you so much for your advice!
All flavored Goya Rice mixes contain wheat. I checked all the boxes myself today. They recently started labeling them with problem allergens. Good thing I didn't risk eating them before.
