My younger sister has 2 female sister cats both are abt 5 1/2 yrs old now. One who was the runt & real sucky baby of the litter has a really strange thing she does & I'm wondering if anyone might have any interesting thoughts on the matter.
When my sister is doing laundry there are piles of stuff that for a brief bit are on the bed in the basement spare room. My sister will be upstairs tending to whatever else & out of the blue she'll hear little Opal start whining & whining (little Opal just squeaks at the best of times). So naturally my sister will go see whats happened & she'll find Opal dragging say a face cloth or small towel type piece of laundry up the stairs.
Totally baffles us as to why or whats going thru her head.

OK that's a new one on me. I've known cats to grab dirty laundry and sleep on it, play with it, even roll on it. For a while Charlemagne had a facination with bras that were in the laundry. But this is new to me. Maybe she thinks you sister forgot them and is bringing them to her? Anyone else have suggestions?

That is strange to me also. My cat will love getting into clean laundry and sleeping on it. Maybe she can smell your sister's scent on the laundry and want it as a security blanket. ???? Don't know.

I agree there must be a scent on thier that the kitty likes. Its funny because we were watching a 7 month old this weekend and one of my kittens loved all her things. The kitten climbed in the diaper bag and carried out one by one all of the clothing.Stole the pacifier and snuggled down in the car seat.It was hilarious...

When my friend Sue visits, Zenobia just falls all over her. Tries to climb into her purse and so on. Also hilarious.

Maybe certain smells appeal to them like cat nip. I know my cat likes the smell of bleach for some reason, of course we keep her away from the stuff when we clean with it and let it air. But where we cleaned with it, she starts trying to roll around in it.

This is just a crazy thought here, but maybe she's having "motherly" instincts, and pretending the cloth is her kitten. I know cats (and other animals) will sometimes steal baby animals and try to "adapt" them. So maybe if no babies are available, they'll substitute a non-living object. Who knows?! It is funny though. Opal sounds really cute!

I once had a cat that had a thing for that slippery nylon lingerie. He would drag my nightgowns all over the place and leave them in the living room or anywhere. I think he liked the feel of the fabric. It was embarassing to come home with guests and find these things all over the living room floor like there had been an orgy there the night before or something.
